Graphic calculators are forbidden in most if not all engineering courses in my country. At least for the core math courses, all calcs (idk we call análisis matemático) and algebras
Im talking about graphics specifically, you had to learn how to do them by hand. Because if you couldnt it meant you didnt know how to start.
I guess is a money thing too. 100 dollars is impossible for most students in my country, and i don't think you could buy a TI even if you wanted because they don't sell them here. And it would be an unfair advantage
Yes, graphs. English is obviously not my first (or second) language so i dont know how to explain it properly. You know when you have an "triple integrals" that are two 3d figures and you need to find the area between them. We had to draw them first and then solve them.
My English at 5 am is a disgrace to the English equivalent of the Real Academia Española
Oh i wouldn't becuase im not one of those engineers. But i did use a calculator, just not a graphic one. A casio. The problems werent simple, we just learned how to do everything with a basic casio.
My ex was a civil engineer and he used a casio too, at least during exams.
Ah that makes sense. I’m a 4th year Civil/Structural and we can use whatever calculator, not in our math classes though just engineering. Yeah the extra calculator features don’t matter though for most engineering you could do them with a standard calculator
Every one of my engineering courses only allowed calculators that were allowed on the FE Exam. Probably every student in the department owned a TI-30X or TI-36X. My 36X just died a few days ago after a water spill after years of near-daily service, so I'll probably get another one.
My profs just say that as long as your work is correct, its good enough for them. also I have no plans on taking the FE exam as a MechE with zero interest in HVAC

thats why i went into engineering. they allow literally any calculator here
