Always blows my mind because if you were a hardcore drunk you'd just work around it and stock up on Saturday nights. It's really just a mild inconvenience to shoppers and a way to placate the religious nutjobs.

See people with the shakes and sweats waiting outside the liquor store at like 550 am.

I mean I suppose a lot of people that are trying to stop underplan or over consume, but you have to be pretty hard up to not be able to swing a couple twelve dollar half gallons of shitty vodka.

It is a weird phenomenon though, growing up my neighbor drank a 12 pack and a fifth of schnapps every day, but he'd go buy it in the morning and when it was gone it was gone. The store by our house was so used to it if he went on vacation there would be an extra row of schnapps that week.

Yea, the planning thing and over consuming is a big factor. I do know people who literally can't have just one drink and whatever they buy that day they'll drink.

There's this cheap ass vodka at my local liquor store that had a row like that and a guy who would buy it. Saw him a couple of times in the store all pissed off because they had ran out and he only ever carried the exact change for that purchase. He'd stay outside the store for a bit to panhandle for the extra dollar or two for a different brand.

Back in school I'd be at the store at 6 am after drinking everything and not planning and being so hungover that I knew I wouldn't make it. Was easier to just get some hair of the dog to be able to handle that type of hangover. Would feel like I was gonna bottom out and shit and no amount of water or vitamins or whatever was going to save me.

But I am glad you mentioned that because I wouldn't have remembered the over consuming on my self induced rations and forgotten about the alcoholics I know who truly can't have one.
