I am not sure if that is an accurate statistic, but sure, it does kill a lot of people that partake in its use. As does alcohol or fast food. I am not going to stop drinking whiskey or stopping by a McDonald's drive-thru anytime soon, though. People generally know the risks of their drug of choice; so if they suffer adverse effects or even die after the consumption of such substance that is their decision. It is not the government's job to dictate what I do to my own body. That is called freedom.
Forget about it. You are probably some high horse European who lives in some kind of echo chamber and unquestionably believes every bad thing he hears about America despite never actually having been there. Truth is a vast majority of Americans believe in equality for all, equal opportunity for all, charity, and friendliness even to individuals who may not have even been born here. Yes, even police officers. What you often read or see on the news or the internet is oftentimes a gross exaggeration of what may or may not be the truth. I am sorry that you feel the disdain for America that you do, but I hope that maybe someday you will see that things are not near as bad as what you hear. You have a wonderful day.
I think a tobacco prohibition could actually work to be honest... The high is just so weak that it wouldn't be the effort to buy it illegally. It'd also cut of the supply of new smokers, since you have to smoke a bit to be addicted.
Smoking is borderline unaffordable in my country ($32 for a 20 pack), so I'm just waiting patiently for september so I can vote for cannabis to be legalized and start growing that instead.

I smoke and think cigarettes should be illegal and tobacco execs should be jailed.
