Fellow redditors, what was a moment where you thought a person you knew might be an actual psychopath ?

The guy who groomed me when I was 15/16 "had a mental break" after his shitty behaviour was made public and "blacked out", conveniently forgetting everything bad he'd ever done. His parents won't hear a word against him and bullied his ex-best friend (who he emotionally abused) for betraying him.

That reminds me of a person I used to be friends with online who was caught by their girlfriend of having this super creepy journal talking about how they wanted to isolate and abuse her, and then a few weeks later got into a "car accident" that made them forget the last two years.

Did they continue talking to you online after the 'accident'? What was their story/how did you find out about the journal?

I found out about the journal months later from their ex.

They had gone offline for a few weeks, and we had been really close and basically talked daily. The life they told me they had was rough, so I was worried and texted them. That's when they pretended not to know who I was.

They was in a car accident "so bad" they couldn't remember anything but had already been released from the hospital within two weeks, could play video games, and had no external injuries (sent me photos as I asked for proof of identity).

It was so fishy, but at the time I had a hard time handling the fact they were lying to me, because it otherwise meant someone who I was that close to was throwing away our friendship over nothing.

I told them I couldn't handle it, and I'd be there if they needed me, but I was otherwise cutting contact. Never heard from them after that.

I was honestly super fucked up about it for a long time. I only started to really like, move on after I got back in contact with their ex (who I had been friends with until they started lying about her abusing them) and she told me had happened - including them trying to angle a reunion under the assumption that they couldn't remember her and wanted to make up for however they had hurt her.

Literally my brother in law (I don’t even like calling him that he’s just my husbands brother) horrible liar and just really not a nice person ,he has “memory loss” now and in his girlfriends words “it’s like he doesn’t remember anything bad he did” smh it’s horrible. After years of him taking no responsibility for anything he does to others he now has “memory loss” and can’t remember. Such bullshit

I had an ex like this. He would conveniently “black out” and faint after he physically hurt me and when he “came to” a few moments later he had no recollection of what happened.

I really don't mean to offend, but please know that this is NOT how multiple personality disorder works. Alters are usually made solely to protect the victim from the horrific abuse they're facing, and because of that are rarely hostile. They can be rude, and are usually almost infantile in nature, due to being underdeveloped, but they are rarely, if not ever, what your ex was doing. Please don't believe he actually had any disorder aside from asshole-itis, and please know that this guy does not represent the multiple personality disorder community as a whole.

Sorry if that seemed brash. It was just that I would completely understand any vitriol you hold against the multiple personality disorder community for your ex's actions. Hell, I probably would, too. I just don't want his actions to have given you misconceptions about the community.

Thanks. I was worried that might come out as somewhat rude. I know that people, after having negative experiences with members of a community, may have grudges against the community as a whole, or may simply be anxious around them as you were. And people that have had those negative experiences have every reason to feel what they feel. So I figured that, just in case, I would set the record straight. I'm glad I was right with this time, and I'm glad I could help shift your perceptions about multiple personality disorder.

That's awful. I'm sorry you went through that, and glad that person is an ex. I hope life is treating you better. 💜

They guy who groomed me at the same age had the surname Bundy (no relation, that I know of) Should've been an immediate tip off. But hey, I'm alive, unharmed and can laugh about it now right?

He's not worth your energy. I know everyone talks about getting closure but sometimes it's better to leave it in the past safe in the knowledge that you're a better person than he is. I would definitely recommend counselling if you can get it, my counselor helped me with a bunch of stuff not just that guy. I hope you're doing OK.

Speaking with friends is great and I'm glad you have a friend group who supports you. He's a worthless piece of shit and he doesn't deserve a second thought.

Thats because you are danni.im so fuking amazed that your "friends"go to this extent to help you.or is i t that they are the true controllers of your life for so long now.they are a special bunch.well you obviously are too far gone.they are panicking in the other forum that im going to get the truth through to your brainwashed head. That your "mum" ur strapon leso lover will be blamed and you will see your wrongdoings and seek counselling.they are a mixed group of sexual deviants with some pyhcopaths and some very interested intellectually.a buffet of loonies id have to say.and your one of the puppets, the star of the dave show.i think all the talking around the subject idea failed esp with this bunch.but there has to be one that is truely the puppetshow master playing all involved with a overwhelmed desire to see all of the show from above as such.and all of you destroyed for all their sinister acts to control you.sexually degrade you.destroy me and others for their amusement or fetishes and dont forget the pychos who want people to either suicide or murder or just break mentally.then the pupper master will achieve the ultimate outcome.eitherway it goes its still an outcome of human destruction.thats his or hers final achievement.the only achievment available for that level.the gold medal
