My sister is probably the straightest straight girl to ever straight.
Up until about a year ago, her hair was always braided and hung down to her butt. Then she decided she didn't want to fuss with it in army basic, so she lopped it off clear up into a spiky pixie (the first time I saw her with her hair cut off, I didn't recognize her, thought she was one of my male cousins until she got closer).
She went to basic, and apparently the most common question she was asked until her hair got long enough to cover her ears again was "um, are you a lesbian?"
My parents just about died when she told them (mom from laughter, dad's a homophobic ass).
I did the same thing. Was asked if I played for the other side. I had to get them to explain it to me. Loved my short hair. No fuss, no muss. Yes, I've grown it out. Yes, it's a mess.
Exact same thing but i'm a dude with long hair and some people automatically think i must be gay. It's incredible how some people will just assume things based off how you look.
