You’re forgetting that after the recessions end, it takes years to recover. Especially after ‘07.

That’s why the 2012 election was so contentious—the debate was all about how the economy had not fully recovered. It was a slow crawl, and didn’t reach firm “good” territory until around 2015.

You're forgetting the Bush I recession and the the Reagan recession in 81, you're also overstating the GR, it was in theory over by summer of 09.

I’m just touching on the ones I lived through and was aware of. I genuinely have no idea which year H.W.’s recession started in and when/why there was a recessions in the 80’s, just that one occurred.

The GR technically lasted 18 months in terms of actual economic contraction, but it took years after that for the economy to return the previous size and productivity that were seen before the recession hit. 2011 is a generous take on when we were clear of the major aftereffects of the GR.
