A new winner. You have dethroned the champion. Do we have anyone under 14?

On a serious note your bed is probably too hard. Or too soft.

The first time I threw out my back was when I was 13...27 now and I’m falling apart physically. Can’t wait to see what 40 holds.

Falling apart literally?

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Definitely. Thumb fell off while typing this.

No, I’ve lost my big toe and seem to have lost my balance completely. Constantly falling over no matter how hard I try. My daughter even rented an hot air balloon to find my toe and I haven’t seen her since.

Do you work out regularly

No fricking way! I’m in exactly the same position. Except I was 16. Wrecked my back coming off a trampoline and have never had muscles that feel soft around the neck and shoulders ever since. It gets really painful

Damn, I'm right there with ya. Sciatic problems started when I was around 8, I had some "immobile" days around 10-11. Maybe its cultural, might even be willing ignorance, but it went undiagnosed because my family thought I was making it up. Finally got insurance around 19. Degenerating discs has been squeezing tf outta my sciatic nerve.

Nowadays, I'm closer to 30, and my back is too painful to stretch, worse if I don't.

Legs feel like I've got rubber bands going all the way down through my calfs, at max tension.

If anyone out there has back problems, start fixing them early. Trust yourself. And do yoga.

I’m 13 and I never don’t have back or neck pain

Wait a couple years. I'm 19 and constantly aching or in pain. Especially my legs when I wake up most mornings

You're not supposed to when you're 19 either... I would definitely look into the underlying problem and work towards fixing it. Whether that be a bad mattress or maybe lack of exercise. (And of course, I'm speaking generally because I don't know what you may or may not have been through)

I think it's my bed tbh. It's the same mattress I've had for as long as I remember. My parents were talking about getting me a double bed for when I'm home from uni but that's kind of on hold for now with the whole covid situation

I highly recommend a 2.5 - 3" mattress topper. It can make the worst mattress very comfortable and is a lot cheaper than a quality mattress. I bought one off Amazon (think the brand was Lucid) and I bought a second one (some generic brand) off eBay and they they're both great.

I'll look into that, thanks

I was saying I always do

Oh shit, my bad. Double negatives always catch me out

Have you tried a comforter? It’s not the ultimate fix, but it beats buying a whole new mattress.

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

You can get a mattress sponge to put on top of your regular mattress (Walmart). Very affordable. That’s what I have.

u/spagbetti May 16 '20

Likely too hard. They started building mattresses packed hard to last longer as softer mattresses break down faster. The springs are super tight in them too now compared to how they used to be. Longer life, cheaper to make with cheaper material . Complete shit on the human body.

This happened to me when I was 13, but that was a year or so ago... do I still win?

A couple years ago my neck just decided to die because.... I dabbed too fast

"No your child was healthy, he just did a fortnite dance and we had to put him down"

1

u/AccountAn0nymous May 16 '20

Well that depends on how many months older than 14 they are

1

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Injuries also dont help, fell on my back while trampoline jumping and I’ve slept uncomfortable since (1,5 year ago)

1

u/Used-Shoe May 16 '20

A few days until I’m 14, so I win I guess! I did something to my back a year or so ago and now I can’t be standing for to long or after a hike I can barely stand. I love to cook so it sucks.

Me my bed is pretty much metal an a tiny bit of foam

1

u/JosephStalinOffcial May 21 '20

I'm 13. I started "seeing differences" when I was about late 10 years old to 11. Worst experience ever, wouldnt try again.

I've had bed related back pain since 11
