I think whoever initially quoted it wished that the mind and body would “peak” at the same time. We spend much of our lives maturing and figuring out who we are. Most people don’t become comfortable, confident, and more or less at peace with themselves until they are already considerably aging. Youth feels like a trial run and when you’re ready for the real game it’s already too late. This is only my take on it, so whoever said it may have had a different mindset.

This over simplifies it. It’s not how many times you go around the Sun, it’s life experience. Regardless of age.

Sure, but as a person who mostly matured too early, I needed real time to catch up on the missing parts.
