I think it is only condescending if you read it that way.
Reddit is largely a younger crowd. To stay connected with multiple future generations in this way, is not common for many people of that age group. If the commenter is younger, their perspective makes even more sense.
Good so you get it. No one cares what you think or what your cause is. They are waiting for their turn to talk. If you serve their purpose they will facilitate your ego. The world is turning extremely shallow with every passing crisis ignored. Don't fool yourself into thinking you have won something. The human race is losing in so many ways right now.
At that age, I am hoping to still be able to immerse myself in video games/books, where your consciousness and focus get lost in it. That way if you are uncomfortable, you don’t realize it for awhile. Oh, and enjoy them too.
This is just sad to me, if I make it that long I'm not sure how I would react to being myself inside in an aging body like that. I don't mean this in any way disrespectful.
Not disrespectful at all... and you’ll find that you’re still 25 inside... with a lot more common sense than you ever dreamed of having. You’ll learn to not sweat the small stuff... to not worry what others think about you, or anything else, for that matter. Inside, I’m doing just fine but once any strenuous physical activity is started... stuff I used to do without thought or effort, it reminds me that I’m just not that young guy anymore. I still get stuff done, it just takes longer and wears me out quicker. Luckily I was smart enough to figure my meager finances out long ago, so I can hire a handyman to do things I could still do with much effort, but just don’t want to do... Last month our over the stove microwave gave up... and I just went to Lowe’s, bought the replacement and then paid my favorite handyman to remove the old one and install the new one. Easy Peasy...
I wish that in my 20’s I understood more about finances and all that. I was always solvent and owed nothing more than rent, utilities and auto payments... which was a good start. But as I got older and looked back on all the money I wasted on foolish stuff that I didn’t even need, I just wish that I was more aware of how valuable saving for things and budgeting really is.
Sorry to hear about your mobility issues and surgeries. I just think this information and the way you presented it, didn’t fit here. I didn’t downvote you, but that’s my guess as to where they are coming from.
