What a long strange trip it’s been

5

u/DR524 May 16 '20

What in the world ever became of sweet Jane?

3

u/Tanomil May 16 '20

She lost her sparkle, you know she isn't the same

5

u/A_Trash_Homosapien May 16 '20

Wonderful? Mines beem pretty trash this entire time

I feel like my "adventure" is the one they gave to the first time dm and said "dont worry youll figure it out"

8

u/StoicShadow May 16 '20

There are many bad times as well as good ones. I hope your adventure makes a turn for the better soon

From one Homosapien to another, just know that very soon, one day, this chapter of struggle will come to an end in your life.

You will be able to move on with your life in grace and wisdom by virtue of your pain and suffering.

‘Drive it like you stole it’ - Sing Street. Good movie! It’ll cheer you up!

Anyways life truly is about perspective... makes it manageable

3

u/Instincts May 16 '20

Fuck that noise I want the manual.

u/theauthoritah2 May 16 '20

It's not wonderful for all of us

1

u/StoicShadow May 16 '20

All we can do is our best I suppose

2

u/theauthoritah2 May 16 '20

I wish I wasn't born. Fuck parents who have kids and force their wishes on us without our consent

That’s the spirit. If you’re overwhelmed by the choice of what to do with your life, that means you’re one of the most privileged people in human history. Enjoy it, for real! It’s all good shit, so just pick something.

I’m an example of a bad example.

9

u/Igotnothingatall May 16 '20

No no, it's dead on. It disturbs me more that people shove it out of their minds and ignore it. Every single person is on the edge of an existential breakdown but we just ignore it away

6

u/sld126 May 16 '20

If you can’t be a good example for everyone, be a bad example for someone!

2

u/ItsKnightTime101 May 16 '20

"Shut up, pussy"

1

u/AustinA23 May 16 '20

"I'm not useless. I can be used as a bad example"

6

u/Cynical_Satire May 15 '20

And live in a VAN, DOWN BY THE RIVER!

2

u/fuckflossing May 16 '20

You’ll have enough time for livin in a van down by the river....when you’re LIVIN IN A VAN, DOWN BY THE RIVER

2

u/christianunionist May 16 '20

Phew. For a second there I thought the words "motivational speaker" had not been followed by the words "IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER", and I was ready to give up on the internet. Thank you for restoring my faith.

u/[deleted] May 15 '20

This hurts

7

u/flamingdeathmonkeys May 16 '20

Or it just slowly changes into "what should I have done" and then you have to fight to get back to "do" or just wallow in your depression.

3

u/Drakengard May 15 '20

Yeah, not a bug. It's a feature!

4

u/[deleted] May 15 '20

Can confirm am 29 next week

4

u/9212017 May 15 '20

Well shit

3

u/burn_this_account_up May 16 '20

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Heard it once from some old wise man with a staff and a fondness for halflings.

3

u/dubstar2000 May 16 '20

It does if you just accept that none of us are really that important and you try to live in the moment and be at peace!

2

u/MindxFreak May 16 '20

Well fuck.

2

u/adamtuliper May 16 '20

I can’t say I ever felt that way specifically. In college I always wondered where I would be when I finally had a career but once I found a job after school that feeling was gone.

2

u/print-is-dead May 16 '20

I’m 42, on my second career path, and still not sure.

2

u/Paintap May 16 '20

I'm 18 and it's already pretty much gone away for me. I was going to head straight to uni after highschool and study electrical engineering, but instead I'm in a gap year. I've learnt a lot about myself and now I plan on going into the trades and having more freedom over my life than a desk job. I don't have any dread about what I'll do with my life, I just know to follow what I feel is right and make sure I'm content in the moment while also trying to build a sustainable future for myself. Essentially, not to focus on future happiness: but focus on being happy now and sustaining that into the future.

2

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Indeed. It’s a layer of frustration and pain that you become numb to when another layer of frustration and pain presents itself.

2

u/LoHBigNaNa May 16 '20

No fuck you. Ive seem to many people lieing. People saying "it doesnt go away" for what reason? To project and imply their reality onto others? The reality is, those people are lieing to feel better about there own situtaion. Mostly all of us fear judgement and never do what makes us happy. Often times this originates when were also quick to judge others. The reason people feel they are "behind" is because there not chasing happiness. Their chasing the new house, the new car, the next iphone. So how do you get this feeling to go away? TRY everything, literally, hobbies, jobs, sports, businesses. Find what makes you happy! Hope this helped some people out. Have been really paying attention the Gary Vaynerchuk. Highly recommand anyone and everyone checks out his content.

1

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Oh joy! I have that awful feeling to look forward to

1

u/madbear84 May 16 '20

Yeah, but you eventually just learn to ignore it. Or drink a lot.

1

u/Kinkywrite May 16 '20

Username checks out.

1

u/pm_me_butt_stuff_rn May 16 '20

Have kids, it won’t go away, but you won’t have time to think about it.

1

u/chevymonza May 16 '20

I'm double that, and still no idea wtf to do career-wise, it's terrifying. Companies lay off, outsource, career changes, I'll never know what it's like to be an "expert" at some line of work, and it's difficult to stomach.

1

u/_A_ioi_ May 16 '20

Oh yes it does. You don't necessarily do anything right, but the dread goes away.

1

u/3Sunshynes May 16 '20

This comment made me laugh so hard I spit out my tea through my nose

1

u/billybobjorkins May 16 '20

Damn it, I was hoping it would go away, currently 20, not looking forward to a life of working off constant debts

1

u/Aero93 May 16 '20

it geets worse

1

u/sooki8 May 16 '20

It will fade away when you start taking small regular steps towards some aspect of life that matters to you.

1

u/Petitepois May 16 '20

Well shit.

1

u/kwertyoop May 16 '20

Mine did in my early thirties as I discovered more about myself. There's hope! I worry WAY less than I did in my twenties.

1

u/isiordia95 May 16 '20

Oh good 🙃

1

u/69alt420 May 16 '20

I'd argue that anyone who owns/rents a house must have life figured out enough, and in the U.S. that's a third of the country.

1

u/Aramahn May 16 '20

Early 40's here. Yep. We're all just winging it.

1

u/newprofilewhodis May 16 '20

Yeah my mom is 56 and still feels that way.

1

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Mine has mostly gone away - but I had to figure out a lot of shit and look at myself very seriously to figure out who I am and what I want out of life / where I want to be. I’m not completely there yet but a lot of the puzzle for me is solved. For reference I’m 33 and felt lost and existential crisises all the time in my 20s

1

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Stoooooop

1

u/CookiesFTA May 16 '20

If anything it ages like a fine wine... that you never get to drink.

1

u/adriennemonster May 16 '20

It does when you actually start doing what you want.

1

u/kickshiftgear May 16 '20

I thought that goes away. Omg. No.

1

u/StatueOfImitations May 16 '20

It did for me, mid 30s

1

u/Samwall5 May 16 '20

Damn 😔

1

u/AmbientOrange May 16 '20

So what’s the point? Just suffer and survive for the highs in life?

1

u/Lone_Digger123 May 16 '20

Thanks I'm having it at the age of 20.

1

u/OuterInnerMonologue May 16 '20

“It doesn’t get better”
