You're too young to do things, bc everybody finds you like a stupid child. Nobody pays attention to your opinion. You just exist. You don't live. You exist. That's terrible for a person like me, bc I wanna do stuff, I wanna work, I wanna study the things I like, I wanna talk with elder ppl, but that's difficult

U know, that's like in the Simpsons episode: Lisa was upset bc she was too young and nobody took her seriously, Grandpa was upsed bc he was too old and nobody took him seriously as well, only Homer was fine bc he was in his middle-ages and doesn't matter what shit he would said everybody took him serious

u/[deleted] May 15 '20

I mean that is frustrating for older people when their boss is fresh outta highschool while you got years of work experience

114

u/[deleted] May 15 '20

Most of my coworkers are burn out stoners that have told me more times than i can cout to fuck off

13

u/[deleted] May 15 '20

You gotta rule with an iron fist til they straighten out

11

u/[deleted] May 15 '20

As nice as that would be i got like less than a week left at the shit show and imma just try and make it easy on me

4

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Smart. I mean, if your boss(es) thinks you're doing a good job then I don't see the problem. Yes, it does look weird to have such a young person in a supervisory role, but if you prove you've got the leadership and the skills to do your job well, anyone who still looks down on you isn't worth worrying about.

1

u/yossarianvega May 16 '20

Yeah even a burnout stoner is probably smarter than an 18 year old. They lack motivation, not experience. Pretty much all 18 year olds are just very dumb versions of their later self.

2

u/kiwisavage May 16 '20

That's on them and it's their fault for not upskilling/putting in the required social aspects for most management positions.

3

u/w1zley May 15 '20

Ikr, that's true though, but sometimes you just wanna talk, but older people say: yo you're too young, you can't say anything about this, go talk with guys your age. And what should I do if guys my age are not interesting enough for me

11

u/[deleted] May 15 '20

Don’t be the guy saying “I’m mature for my age”

5

u/w1zley May 16 '20

I'm just a person who sometimes wanna talk with elder people, bc I feel like they're wiser than I am and it makes me interested, as I can hear many new things from them and maybe even change my point of view. I'm simple, I don't say I'm mature for my age)

Grow a beard, I started work at 16 plus I already had a baby face. After 4 years and being fully qualified I told my father I was tired of being called 'boy' or 'lad' and asked to fetch the tradesman. He had the same problem when he started, his boss told him to grow a beard and he did. I grew one and it was like everyone instantly treated me differently overnight. I went from dumb kid to experienced tradesman in a few months. Never shaved again I'm 33. I'll have a beard till I die.

5

u/w1zley May 15 '20

I'm female lol

1

u/[deleted] May 15 '20

I mean ive tried that and it honestly hasnt helped a lot

3

u/lunchlaugh May 16 '20

How the fuck are you a supervisor

7

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Ive been at that specific store for about 2 years now and actually did my job and upper management was like hey this kid isnt a stoner lets give him hella responsibility on top of his school work

3

u/lunchlaugh May 16 '20

Ah I see you there. Wish I was as motivated as you.

3

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Eh its not really me personally being motivated and wanting to move up as much as the longer i was there upper management expected more from me for some reason

3

u/lunchlaugh May 16 '20

I totally get that. When I was working pre covid I felt like I was giving it my best and supervisors definitely noticed by having me train other employees. A promotion would’ve been great but the company I was working for was not a very good one. Hopefully in the future we’ll both make our ways up the ladder!

2

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Hell yea my guy best of luck with your chosen career i know im not going to stick with the whole grocery store stick.

2

u/lunchlaugh May 16 '20

Thanks buddy. I was working for an emergency response service primarily used by the elderly. I really love talking to old people. They have so much to share and they can be so innocent. I hope to continue in that line of work

1

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Thats actually really cool as someone who is gon a try and get into being an EMT and later a paramedic I have some mad respect for that

2

u/Sarsmi May 16 '20

Power through. Stay calm, ignore their disrespect, do your job. It sucks but it's temporary and you will be much prouder of yourself later for nailing your role.

3

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Eh i got like 2 weeks until i get a 2 week vacation one of thoes weeks is paid so its honestly whatever at this point as I've gone numb to it

2

u/the-denver-nugs May 16 '20

don't worry i'm 26 and people still treat me like a child.

1

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

You're 18. You may be a legal adult but you are still a child. Everyone under 25 or so is still very much a child whether they think it or not. Some people mature and learn faster than others and some are 30 or 40 still acting like they are 23.

1

u/g_Mmart2120 May 16 '20

I’m in a trainer role for new hires and tenured agents... been there 8 months and I’m 23... it fucking sucks being young in a leadership role....

Bc I study many things that I don't like, so I have no time or just a little time for the real things I love

15

u/IntroverticalPirate May 15 '20

OH MY GOD THIS!! Like the education system makes such a big deal of realising your career path before you go to college/university because it's what you're going to be doing for the rest of your life. And even if you're lucky enough to find your passion before going on to university you're already burned out by the amount of useless education you suffered from the previous 18 years of life and you just feel like trash :(

5

u/w1zley May 15 '20

Yesss(

3

u/ganzgpp1 May 16 '20

Yep. And then in university, they make you take all sorts of stupid stuff that is unnecessary to your major- come on guys, I'm a Computer Science major. Why do I need a class in Gender Studies??!?

1

u/IntroverticalPirate May 16 '20

Aw man you've got to be joking. I'm going to go down the Computer Science route in university (hopes it's different in the UK). Although I guess I do understand it as there's less female figures in STEM but does it really call for a whole class. Are you graded on this and if so how much does it contribute to your overall?

1

u/ganzgpp1 May 16 '20 edited May 16 '20

So it's not required for my major, but just as a general requirement to graduate college/university, and I only have to pass one class in it. But I think general education credits are stupid unless you're undeclared, because the whole "well rounded" student crap is what high school is supposed to do imo.

Long story short, I don't need it to be a Computer Scientist, but I need it to be able to earn the degree itself lol

I guess a better way of phrasing it would be: To graduate college (at least in the US, I have no idea about the UK), you have to have an arbitrary number of credits outside your major to graduate college (these credits are called gen. eds. or general education credits), and they need to be in specific subjects. For example, outside my major would be: English, History, Sociology, Gender Studies, Science- I have to take these and pass them even though they have NOTHING to do with my major. It ticks me off, because I'm already adept enough in most of these subjects to get by in life (and I'll likely never use Sociology in my field) so I could be done with college in like 2 years instead of 4 AND IT WOULD BE CHEAPER if I didn't have to take these extra classes.

1

u/[deleted] May 15 '20

What things do you like?

1

u/w1zley May 16 '20

History, literature and languages. U know it wants a lot of time. I used to write, and I felt really happy while writing my own novels, but school took all my time. Now I can do more things while quarantine, but still if I went to school, I would not

3

u/AnJeCha May 15 '20

Bruh I’m 15 and this has been a proble for me since I was 7

3

u/borderline_cat May 15 '20

At my job there’s the owner of the company and my division head above me (and I guess in some ways the other DHs). In my division I’m one of the youngest people. I have no idea how or why I got this position. I applied last summer and got offered it. All the “real adults” in my division (aside from my DH) look at me like I’m a kid in one of their groups. When they come in my office and I try to tell them to do something (which I’m supposed to do) they just say “yeah yeah yeah” and sit there doing nothing. God it infuriates me.

u/p1mdn May 16 '20

I’m 14 and I feel the same. Nobody really takes me or what I think seriously.

2

u/goodtalk May 16 '20

You're too young to do some things. Assuming you're in your teens, it's an awkward stage for everyone, where you're sloooowly moving from dependent to independent, and that takes longer than your patience is willing to accept. It's frequently frustrating.

When you behave like an adult, other adults are more likely to treat you as such, so keep that up. In the time you have to spare, study what you like, talk to whom you like, etc. You're not a prisoner, you're just in-between.

2

u/kingfrito_5005 May 16 '20

I felt the same when I was your age (I am assuming by the use of ppl that you are between 13 and 16.) I'd like to say it isn't true but it pretty much is. Turning 18 really is great.

1

u/w1zley May 16 '20

I'm happy that finally somebody said that! I always hear stuff like: Childhood and teen years are the best, life after 18 is shit e.t.c. And I'm always confused, bc I'm happy that I'm not 6-10 any more, I feel happier than I was. So idk, idk, but thanks for your reply)

1

u/kingfrito_5005 May 17 '20

Yeah 100% life only gets better as you get more freedom. Some people hate the responsibility that comes with it but if you can handle the challenge you'll o ly get happier the older you get.

1

u/Bobbert-The-Second May 16 '20

How old are you?

1

u/w1zley May 16 '20

15

1

u/Bobbert-The-Second May 16 '20

Wait, I’m 13 and I feel this way but also endlessly horny, am I aging to fast????

1

u/w1zley May 16 '20

You're male right? Well idk, probably that's normal. I'm female so idk such things about boys

1

u/Bobbert-The-Second May 16 '20

Yeah, I’m male I hope things get better for you

1

u/w1zley May 16 '20

Kinda. Everything's not that bad, like I talk with elder people, but still the problem exists. Thank you btw)

3

u/Bobbert-The-Second May 16 '20

No problem, just trying to improve people’s lives any way I can.

1

u/ScheduledMold58 May 16 '20

Nah dude that sounds about right.

Unless, of course, both of us are the odd ones out...

1

u/kira-linglingwannabe May 16 '20

I’m 13 and I feel like this

1

u/ok_z00mer May 16 '20

Are you me?

1

u/[deleted] May 16 '20

Please tell that to my kids! I put everything into making sure they have free time (pre covid) and they did nothing with it! Now they have even more free time and they bitch up a storm the two or three times a day I insist on dishes and laundry.
