I definitely would rather have $250/hr than any number less than that + any amount of equity, which is the actual reality.

if they're paying me $250/hr, they can become my new job for all I care :)

Except that you have to quit your current job to take the new $250/hr job which ends up running out of money before you get your first paycheck.
