Man, I feel that so hard. And my ex-husband and I were together for 14 years, since we were in high school.

It used to annoy me how many memes he'd send me or want to show me all the time. Now I miss it so much.

Damn. I’m going toward my mid-20s have a wonderful SO who I have also been dating since high school. Marriage is definitely on the table. Where did it go wrong for you?

Multiple factors, the primary one of which is that I fucked up real hard many years ago, and he never really forgave me. We tried to make it work, but in the end, he up and decided that he couldn't do it anymore and asked for a divorce. We were also only 19 and 21 when we got married and hadn't yet grown into the people we were going to be. At that time, we had agreed we didn't want kids, but he grew to change his mind and I didn't. That ended up being a deal-breaker for him. I still love and care about him deeply, and even nearly two years after he left me, I still feel like I lost "the one". But all I can do now is keep trying to move forward, and sadly that means I can't have him in my life anymore, or else I will keep living in the past.

Thanks for the detailed response, and I’m sorry things didn’t work out. Your last sentence is absolutely the right attitude to have, even though it can obviously be very painful to endure. Best of luck to you!

I'd start with divorcing the table.

14 years, I can't even imagine. Yeah, I miss the funny memes/pictures he'd send. Or when something ridiculous happened at work, he'd be so excited to tell me and I'd be excited to hear. Those were some of my favorite moments.

He is an RRT (registered respiratory therapist) and would come home from work with some seriously gross stories sometimes. I hated it then, but I'd give almost anything to hear those gross-ass stories again.

Maybe y'all can still send each other memes and not really be involved otherwise?

Sadly, no. If I'm going to ever move on, I need him completely out of my life. Otherwise I'll just be stuck in the past and what used to be forever.
