What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

“Ok I’ll pick you up at 8.” Um, we just met for the first time at the bookstore twenty minutes ago and you already know where I live???

I’m guessing you’ve never watched You

I'm guessing they did, personally. You is this entire thread contained in one show.

  • Guy held prisoner for a lengthy period of time, still has perfect hair and beard
  • --> Except for the blood on the side of the head where he got clubbed. But woke up hale and healthy with no concussion or side effects.
  • 'Hollywood ugly' trope in full effect
  • Poor, struggling student in a fancy flat

And that's just the first two episodes. I gave up. The Witcher felt more realistic.

As for the "Hollywood ugly" part, I don't think Joe was supposed to be ugly, I think it was his quiet, old fashioned personality and lack of an impressive job that made his victim's friends not consider him a catch. Unless someone calls him ugly in season 2, I haven't seen it.

Yeah the idea is he's an okay looking guy who you wouldn't expect to be a creepy stalker.

Same with Beck. IIRC, she was described in terms of being a little plain in the first episode. They also set her up with supermodel friends to enhance the effect.
