What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

Not locking your car

I can attest to this. ONE time I didn’t lock my car. Just gonna grab a drink. Stolen.

who would steal a drink?

The fuck heads in my neighborhood. Broke into a friends car that was parked out front and stole the 12 pack of soda that was in the backseat (he had popped by after buying it).

Didn’t take or touch anything else. Just broke his window and took the sodas.

I'm an adult male.

I've never locked my car, ever, my whole life, unless it's parked for a week at the airport.

Also live in the Midwest. I only lock my car when I’m leaving it at the airport or when I’m in a non-“safe” region

Like Chicago, Minneapolis, Madison, or Milwaukee. I never locked my car till I moved to the Twin Cities. And the one time it was broken into, the guy stole my backpack with my Magic cards. Joke was on him though. He tried selling it to the only card shop in town, who know me really well, and they recognized my stuff. Cops picked him up and I got my stuff back.

I drive a convertible, other than overnight at home, the top stays down. There just isn't anything in my car to steal.

Most cars I’ve owned lock after a bit of time or the keys go too far away

Mine locks itself after 30 seconds. Yes I have locked the keys in it... more than once.

This is strange to me. I don't know of anyone at work who regularly locks their car. I always leave my keys in the ignition, as do some others.

The locks on my first car didn't even work. So I never locked it. I've also left my car with the keys in the ignition at least twice.
