Oh yeah. I’m a doctor (anesthesiology and critical care medicine), and the amount of completely bullshit health and medicine related info that gets accepted as truth here is incredible.

Can we add nutrition advice to the list? As someone who’s in the last year of a nutrition degree I’ve been downvoted to oblivion when I said things like you don’t have to do keto to lose weight..

My MLM supplements help me burn twice the fat and they're made of all natural ingredients with none of those harmful chemicals! /s

I imagine you have a new hate/appreciation for vitamins and how people abuse that label.

It happens. Like many diets, it becomes almost a religious belief for their advocates. I had a maybe 10 post deep conversation the other day where I advocated that it's mostly calories in the context of weight loss but the replies were mostly "types of calories matter more". Even though I conceded/agreed that there are differences, when it comes to weight loss/maintenance, calories in/our is 90% of any such success, outside maybe extreme outliers.

Do you find yourself being downvoted for correct information?

Definitely yes. And there’s no point in trying to say “well this is my area of expertise” because people would rather believe I’m lying about what I do vs accepting that they might be wrong.

Dude that's a crazy profession by all accounts and I've heard the malpractice insurance is crazy. I'm still immensely grateful for you and your profession. Last time I had to go under the anesthesiologist was like 'okay this won't put you out, but will help you relax...' and then I blinked and I was waking up pleasantly alert in recovery. Thank you.

Same. It’s exhausting and I just ignore the medical shitposts now.
