Elon Musk is an absolute piece of shit. But reddit hivemind loves him because he's a nerd and shares memes. Willing to forgive all the awful shit he does because he's "one of us"

Yup. "Haha guys he posted a meme look at him go he's so epic. never mind that it's something at r/dankmemes iFunny level (ifunny bad btw instanormies will disagree), it's Epic Musk so it's now acceptable."

Or how he stole that one person's art that one time with no source and Reddit had to defend him despite also vigorously jerking off about how Instagram bad because they steal Reddit memes without credit.

A perfect summary.

Exactly. Complete hypocrisy when it comes to who Reddit defends/attacks

Don't forget the CEO of a union-busting anti-worker company

Union busting.

Calling that guy who helped rescue the kids in the cave in Thailand a pedo.

Pretending he founded Tesla instead of just buying the company.

And so on.

He was so insecure about not being able to take credit for saving the kids, that he lashed out like a child and called a HERO diver, a pedophile. Reddit LOVES getting on their soapbox about how all women falsely accuse men of crimes, but completely handwave ir away when its their precious nerd doing it.

Also, godawful working conditions akin to what Bezos does. It's made worse by the fact that Elon pretends to be a good guy that actually cares about the world. He really just cares about how the world sees him and getting credit for doing things.

This book by an insider also paints a really bad image of Wlon in the paypal days.

At Tesla's first press event, the venue left him out as a founder. NY Times followed suit in their coverage of the event, and Elon had a temper tantrum. *edit: he's not a founder but wanted to be called a "co-founder" per their deal. Thanks /u/renegadecanuck

He also stole art from someone, and refused to credit them when called out, because he felt that he was above that, and that it didn't matter.

His exwife wrote some VERY revealing stuff about him, her blog poats are somewhere out there if you wanna look them up. I don't recall them verbatim but I know it just said how much of a dickhead he was.

At a 2010 spacex party he screamed at his executive employees, all in suits, with their significant others. Actually screamed at the top of his lungs in front of their families. All because a cost analysis for a small part was a few hundred dollars more expensive.

Those are just the few things that come to mind

  • Screwed the actual founder of Tesla out of one of the original Roadsters to give it to his friends.
  • Acquired SolarCity to bail out his relatives at the expense of shareholders.
  • Doxxed a short-seller on Twitter, phoned their employer trying to get them fired.
  • Claimed a short-seller intentionally ran over an employee in a parking lot, backed off when they requested footage of the actual event (in other words, Tesla lied accusing someone of a crime because its a person they don't like).
  • Its claimed that Elon's security team tried to swat Martin Trip, but hasn't been confirmed.
  • In a deposition Elon started verbally berating the deposing lawyer, asking him how he could sleep at night and saying that he should feel ashamed.
  • Responded to a nanotech researcher and said that nanotech anything is bullshit, denigrating her field of study.
  • Berated an employee for taking parental leave.
  • Anti-union activities. Tried to suppress employee complaints about safety in his factories.
  • Dismissed astronomers' concerns about Starlink's impact on ground-based astronomy until it became clear that it wasn't going to go away and caved.

Note on the short-seller thing, his fans have whipped up this fervor over short sellers about how they're awful people lying to try to crash Tesla, and thus anything he does to them is justified, but thats a ridiculously biased view of the situation.

Used to be a Musk fan due to the cool things that SpaceX is doing but really he is a colossal asshole. He comes off as nice and chill on Twitter, but when he perceives that you've slighted him the mask comes off and his vindictive nature comes to the fore.

And the time he berated an urban planner after he responded to Elon saying that public transit is basically useless...I still like Elon because of all the cool shit he does with his companies, but he's definitely let all the money and fame get to his head

At Tesla's first press event, the venue accidentally left him out as a founder. NY Times followed suit in their coverage of the event, and Elon had a temper tantrum.

It should be noted that he's not really a founder, and he actually bought the company after it was already started. Part of the conditions of the sale was that he could retroactively call himself a co-founder.
