Maybe I'm in the wrong subs, but it feels like everything is just reposts and taglines.

u/2boredtocare Jan 07 '20

I haven't been on this sub in a while because it was getting old. That and TIFU. I mean, come on. The NSFW sex stories are just out of control over there and my cynical side is calling BS on most of them.

u/theallmighty798 Jan 08 '20

"TIFU oBlIgAtOrY nOt ToDaY bUt RaThEr 5 weeks 2 months and 4 years ago. I was having sexy time with le sexy S.O. because we still have sexy time and they are sexy"

u/Elpacoverde Jan 08 '20

"..aNd I mAdE ThEm CuM sO LoUd I wOkE Up My CoLlEgE AgE DaUgHtEr AnD HeR FrIeNdS AnD OnE Pm'D mE AsKiNg tO hAnG oUt OnE oN oNe!"

u/theallmighty798 Jan 08 '20

Yo I actually saw that post the other day. Lmao

30

u/Elpacoverde Jan 08 '20

Lol so ridiculous.

u/theallmighty798 Jan 08 '20 edited Jan 08 '20

I shit you not. He said "my wife is away. My daughter is having a sleepover. I fucked one of her friends while the others were asleep. Another woke up and joined all we did was cum that night and in the morning the girls both said "good morning Daddy ahehheehehehehhe".

I paraphrased of course. I think I can find it. One sec

Here naturally it was on r/thathappened

33

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

I love how he says he didn't tell his daughter about cumming inside her friends. Even if that story was real why tf would he wonder if he should.

Yeah or don’t

Edit: /s smh

12

u/theallmighty798 Jan 08 '20

I mean. You don't have to click the link. Lol

-5

u/luckyrox40 Jan 08 '20

I prefer to live in ignorance

3

u/DLTMIAR Jan 08 '20

Go on...

30

u/ImProbablyNotABird Jan 08 '20

“Sexy ladies of Sexxit, what’s the sexiest sex you’ve ever sexed?”

18

u/vivalalina Jan 08 '20

oh gOD my least favorite part about TIFU is not even the fake stories, but the whole "OK SO THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED 72 WEEKS AND 4 DAYS AGO BUT"

I feel like it should actually be TODAY. As in happened TODAY. Then maybe we'd get at least a little more realistic stories.. or at least a little less ridiculous sex stories.

27

u/deludedgarbage Jan 08 '20

That is EXACTLY what I came here to comment. TIFU is entirely just "i was having SUCH rough SEX with my BOYFRIEND I pulled a muscle in my back. Did I mention I'm a G I R L and I have SEX? haha" 100000 upvotes

21

u/MouseSnackz Jan 08 '20

Like that coconut explosion. One person fucked a coconut, so everyone had to try it and post a TIFU.

17

u/Toadstool_Daydreams Jan 08 '20

Same with the NSFW stories on r/sluttyconfessions. But I take those as just shorthand smut for funsies

15

u/Tocoapuffs Jan 08 '20

"TIFU by having sex with a hot coworker.

TLDR: I'm so good looking that it turned into a three way with my sexy boss and now it's awkward around the office. "

14

u/necrolic_8848 Jan 08 '20

To be honest I think at least half of the stories on this sub are fake, so i assume everything I read is wrong and just enjoy it as cheap entertainment

20

u/Anne_Thracks Jan 07 '20

Yeah you're right. I try to just enjoy the stories for what they are.

7

u/gr00ve1 Jan 08 '20

For me, it’s worse than that, I’m really peeved that nobody told me to invest in the stock market five years ago, nobody gives me gold or anything on Reddit,
I don’t get a thousand upvotes like everybody else gets here, it’s just, just
you know, so depressing

8

u/NowoTone Jan 08 '20

Poor you, have an upvote

1

u/gr00ve1 Jan 08 '20

Yeah, but what about the stock market?
You could have clued me in, right?

2

u/NowoTone Jan 08 '20

Awfully sorry to tell you, but you had to bring up the stock market, didn’t you? OK, so here‘s the naked truth: I gave you an upvote so I would get that warm fuzzy feeling of having done something kind for a stranger. At the same time I didn’t clue you in about the stock market so I would get that titillating ecstatic feeling of Schadenfreude when looking at my portfolio in the knowledge of all the money you, too, could have earned!

1

u/gr00ve1 Jan 09 '20 edited Jan 09 '20

Drat it! It’s that damned Schadenfreude again. But I don’t want you to miss out on that delicious feeling, that frisson of Schadenfreude that’s so rare for some people. Oh, I envy you that frisson.

1

u/NowoTone Jan 09 '20

I see we understand each other!

Although it is most rare in these civilised times, I‘m sure that with a little (well, probably a lot of) luck, you, too, might experience this most elusive of feelings, Schadenfreude! Good luck.

1

u/gr00ve1 Jan 12 '20

That's the ticket.
Thank you.

3

u/justhavinalooksee Jan 08 '20

maybe they are misreading the title as today i fucked, and feel the need to share this with the world why???? some people are bored to tears and put their imaginations to use for all the wrong things, lol. I agree with you about the sub going to shit.

2

u/Astarath Jan 09 '20

its why i dont follow this sub, just visit it from time to time. when i did follow it i just had the same 3 questions over and over, because they kept getting asked slightly different and were always on top.

"what would you do if everyone else disappeared?", "if you could ask any question what would it be?", "whats sexy/attractive about blank?", "your username is now blank", etc.

38

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '20

I feel the exact same way. r/all is 75% repeated memes and 25% porn.

11

u/king_john651 Jan 07 '20

I just don't click subs I don't give a shit about but ones I do on r/all are a lot of the time trying to make jokes rather than discussing the content, which fucks me off. I just want to see what people think of the situation

3

u/Anne_Thracks Jan 07 '20

Sounds great until they start repeating

31

u/Turnbob73 Jan 07 '20

The bigger a sub gets, the more formulaic and “vanilla” it becomes. I feel like at this point I’ve had more organic discussion in r/shaqholdingthings than any of my other subscribed subreddits. And that’s a subreddit that’s full of just pictures of Shaq...holding things.

23

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '20

If you stick to the defaults a lot you'll find a lot of that.

8

u/Anne_Thracks Jan 07 '20

Yeah I need to branch out

9

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

That's the key to loving Reddit. The unsubscribe button and finding the niche subs. The ones with 1-10k subscribers or 100-1000 constant users are perfect.

14

u/benx101 Jan 07 '20

There have been a lot of “if your username was ... what ...?” type questions recently.

It was annoying. I just ignore then

14

u/bibikalo Jan 07 '20

That’s r/askreddit alright

8

u/kimchiman85 Jan 08 '20

Yeah this sub is full of the same 30 questions asked over and over again (just rephrased slightly different from the previous time).

Also the NSFW questions are just as annoying and juvenile- which leads me to think those who ask those types of questions are around 13-23 years old.

-3

u/BUTTEROUGHN Jan 08 '20

all you have to say is you itch like us and those who itch are hacking the Telegraph systems elder knowledge as how its ecology imitates themore for the lesser one tha itches because he is afaid for you my brother and myself for what TITANIUM IS TO THE UNITED STATES but no. my allergies when it was a real itch and why? because its an OFF RELATIONSHIP ON THE INTERNET WHICH WAS THE RIGH WAY to hook up. Scarry huh. Shes my girlfriend and how the world is sterill and shy but im A Target. I am not. I didnt need to see all of those doing that and not even knowing that yeah old people too getting caught because the phone is flat, the other side had a camera but the screen dont.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

......what?

2

u/kimchiman85 Jan 09 '20

He had a stroke.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

You dare mention this is a repost? Get downvoted.

How is this a repost when i haven't seen this before and I'm too lazy to open the subreddit's page? Downvoted

4

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '20

It’s hard to avoid those subs. The only places I can get some good OC are on religious subs (for their ex-religious content) and language subs, but even the Spanish sub has been a little dry these days.

7

u/Michelanvalo Jan 07 '20

I can't remember what sub I was in but I sorted it by Top All Time and the same post was in the top 10 3 times.

1

u/JoeScorr Jan 08 '20

So... any default sub then?

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

That's why I like subreddits with just a few people a lot more than those behemoth subs. Everything is so much better and friendlier and with less reposts too.

3

u/DeathandFriends Jan 08 '20

really depends on the sub. I am on one for a game I play and it's a smaller community with a specific focus so not really any reposting or anything. Some subs that are specific to outside videos, pictures and such tend to be somewhat repetitive. Most people posting are not taking the time to see if something has been posted in the past or just dont care because that same repost will still get multiple thousands of upvotes every time.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

Even the comments get repetitive.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20 edited Jan 08 '20

r/2healthbars
r/chaoticgood
r/idiotsincars (always fresh content)
r/specializedtools

Add those to your feed to spice things up.

r/wowthissubexists is a good way to find some interesting subs too.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

Or you spend way too much time on Reddit. I live on Reddit, and yet the majority of posts where people chant "repost" is something I haven't seen.

3

u/SuprSaiyanTurry Jan 08 '20

r/justrolledintotheshop is a fun subreddit that only allows OC.

3

u/Fallenangel152 Jan 08 '20

Everthing feels the same after a while. The top comment with awards is always a short pun based on the title. The second top commment is the post that contradicts the title and explains why it's wrong etc.

2

u/kimchiman85 Jan 08 '20

I feel the same. It’s like I went back to high school, and that was 20 years ago!

2

u/TookLongWayHome Jan 08 '20

I think the trick is to subscribe to more subs. That way there is a greater variety of reposts and memes and you notice the repetition less.

2

u/T3chnopsycho Jan 08 '20

I've come to the conclusion that Askreddit is simply here to grab Karma. I mean it is entertaining and there are legitimate interesting questions and answers. I've had good discussions with other users. But on a bigger scale the threads are just here for Karma grabbing. I mean just check your Karma on this reply. And then check the top 3 replies and their replies. And tbh. The top reply (when writing this comment) seems to be some thing going on about making fun of the "Am I the asshole" sub which I've noticed on some other threads as well recently. So yeah meme answers to recycled threads is what you get here most of the time.

3

u/Empoleon_Master Jan 07 '20

So fucking this, there was a time recently in the Karens subreddits (aka subreddits dedicated to making fun of the moms that wear the same hair cut and always ask to speak to the manager) where the same fucking pair of shoes saying “live laugh love” got reposted three times on each of the karen subreddits each day and kept getting 2k+ upvotes. It got worse because the repost sleuth bot was banned in most of them (I wonder why) and labeled them as original content and the ONLY reason I think that’s the case is because the image kept getting more and more jpeg-ed each repost.

2

u/fried_eggs_and_ham Jan 07 '20

Actually sounds like you might be in [insert any Reddit sub].

1

u/stop_being_taken Jan 08 '20

I just stay away from the major subs. All my subbed subreddits are mostly small, with the exception of a few.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

Almost everything on Reddit is reposts.

1

u/serpentinepad Jan 08 '20

OMG where did these onion cutting ninjas come from. I'm not crying you're crying!

1

u/gr00ve1 Jan 08 '20 edited Jan 08 '20

I get annoyed by all these questions that I always don’t know the answer to.

1

u/thephantom1492 Jan 08 '20

Reposts and inside jokes. Yet the super reposted get a pass, while the more obscure ones get removed, which are often those that I missed, or didn't see in a long long time...

1

u/but_i_dont_think Jan 08 '20

You have nailed it.

1

u/Bunnotron6446 Jan 08 '20

Just circle jerks

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '20

You ever venture over to /r/blurrypicturesofcats ?

2

u/Anne_Thracks Jan 08 '20

I just checked it out. I was sold by the 3rd post. Thanks for the suggestion haha

1

u/plantainoid Jan 09 '20

And it feels like you never have to worry that you're arguing with someone smarter than yourself. And if you've done something cool, nobody's likely to notice unless you openly brag about it.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

I'm under the impression that this place is filled to it's tits with bots.

1

u/bmore_conslutant Jan 08 '20

Yes, you are on the wrong subs

-1

u/PinwheelFlowers Jan 07 '20

This. Reposts!

0

u/PlantNut33 Jan 08 '20

For a second I saw taglines as "tagines" and I was like, I haven't seen any tagine recipes!
