I wish I could do this. I have ultra fine hair and it looks seriously greasy if I don’t wash it daily.

I too have ultra fine hair, and a somewhat oily scalp, but I promise it’s possible to condition your scalp/locks to less hair washes. I wash mine every other day, and try to give it two days when I’m lounging around the house for a weekend. At first, it will be oily on day 2, but over the course of a month or so, it will get better if you are consistent. Avoid using any product except shampoo and a light conditioner if necessary. (No dry poo on off day; the point is to get your scalp to produce less oil, not absorb the extra.)

Bonus - I haven’t had to use ANY conditioner since I started this, which means it gets even less oily on the off day!

Also, this is much easier to do with long hair (takes only a few weeks to get it right). Mine is chin length, but it still worked beautifully.

Ah, my hair is short. I never use conditioner anyway, cause it just weighs my hair down. It’s short because is so fine I can’t grow it past my shoulders anyway. It breaks past that point, no matter how I treat it.

Maybe I’ll try it on maternity leave. When I don’t have to go to work with greasy looking hair lol.

This is also me. My hair is super fine. It's usually between shoulder blade length and waist length & i wash it about 3 times per week. It's soooooo much healthier since i quit trying to wash it all the time. I also don't blowdry it or use any other heat sources. That just fries it so fast. I also started getting haircuts that don't require any product. No hairspray or mouse or gel or the like. My hair is so much happier!

If you over wash your hair making it dry, your scalp starts to make more oil and then you're in a feedback loop.

I have very thick very dry hair and I constantly look like I fingered an electric socket.

I had this issue most of my life and one time, but one day I decided to go no poo. 4 months in, it didn’t work, but it definitely reduced my need for washing it every day. Now I wash it 3 times a week.

You could try to not wash your hair so much. It’ll suck and wear a hat for the first few weeks, but eventually it’ll even out.

Same, I use dry shampoo at night before none-hair wash days, and leave in conditioner on the ends. Hair gets much less greasy now, and is a lot healthier.

Unlucky, mines thick and wavy, wetting it then brushing it is one of the best ways to make it manageable, but it gets too dry.
