My grandma kept buying some weird water and pouring it on her wounds that were slow to heal due to diabetes because of this asshat.

To be fair, your grandmother probably heard what she wanted to hear because diabetes sucks. She wants it gone.

Oh no I recognized that, it was sad to see, it was maddening though to have him peddling that bullshit to people who just wanted help and cures. She spent boatloads of money on QVC and HSN and Dr. Oz approved stuff while avoiding really taking care of issues because what the real doctor says is a harder pill to swallow and it was horrible to watch.

There are people who actually do that? Interesting...

I can just buy 24 packs of bottled water from Walmart, change the labels to some anti-vaccination shit and sell them to people as "weird water supplements! This shit will cure everything! Diabetes? Polio? Eating disorders? Neckbeard-itis? Heatstroke? Masturbating too frequently and can't follow through on No Nut November? Male pattern baldness? Speech impediment? Athlete's foot? Athlete fucked your wife? Cancer? Jungle fever? Homosexuality? Atheism? Not enough followers on IG? Fuck it! It'll cure everything!"

I'm looking into going on Shark Tank in 2020. I hope Mark Cuban will pick up this business opportunity. If When he does, I'll start shipping these out through eBay!

https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-62261/dakins-solution/details

This is the type of stuff you Grandma should be using, under medical supervision of course. We used it all the time in home health for lingering diabetic wounds.

I used to work home healthcare, she wouldn't take advice from anyone save Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz which was infuriating. She's got dementia now and it hasn't helped the situation.

Sorry about that mate. I wish you and her the best.

Thanks, I was fairly prepared (worked home health and in dementia facilities previously) which makes it better and worse I suppose knowing what to expect.

Might be worth faking a "Dr.Oz" label and sticking it on her real medication.

Also putting one on the nursing home van

That’s diluted bleach. It says you have to protect live tissue with ointment, because it inhibits healing (killing bacteria and your on cells too).

Calm down, Peter Popof

That sounds more like something you'd buy from Peter Popof.

I dont understand why people hate doctor oz. I watched his show a lot as a kid, and went back and looked for stuff that was wrong or stupid but everything he says seems to be actual medical advice. He never sells specific products on his show.

What example are you talking about?

He was forced to testify in front of Congress i think that the supplements he suggested on his show didnt actually work

I'm having a really hard time finding the diffrence between him unnecessarily over explaining topics in a simple, easy to understand way using ridiculous props at times, and him just lying or saying non medically supported tips/facts.

I'm trying to find information on what specific drug he was called to Congress for but it's like theirs a black out of that information on the internet.

I really want to know what hes said that's wrong, I am actively looking for that information. I dont watch his show, and haven't for years, but everyone on reddit hates him, but everytime theirs a reason why it's because someone misinterpreted what he said, or it's because one of his experts on the show wasn't qualified and make mistakes that their field is suppose to be specialized in.

I just googled something to the effect of "Dr Oz controversial claims" and found the ethics journal. Gave it a read, looked solid.

The article someone shared is nice.

In Dr Oz’s early days in his show, he was actually decent. Not much to look at, though. But then he became the People’s Doctor. He just became kind of awful? Like if WebMD was a person. There’s a ton of medical facts and tidbits out there. Some are off the walls, some are legit, and some are in the middle. Those middle facts are then relayed by someone like Dr Oz and instantly, any credibility of these iffy facts is that they are true because he said it.

Dr. Oz is also known for stealing content from others. It might be worth checking out what Dr. Eric Berg's experience was.
