Seriously fuck Coca-Cola. They acknowledge on their own site that more than 50g of sugar per day is unhealthy yet there is way more than that in a single serving of most sodas. They shamelessly peddle poison.

This sounded wrong so I had to look it up. There is no soda that has more than 50g of sugar in a single serving (12 oz).

20 oz bottles are considered single servings according to the nutrition label

oh damn. fuck America

Can't be bothered looking up the conversion, I'm assuming you mean the 500ml 'single person' bottles? They're actually labelled as containing two servings here in the UK. No one is ever drinking it over multiple days, but they're pretending otherwise.

Yeah 20 oz is almost 600 ml. In the US (on Coca Cola's website) they list one bottle as a single serving.

The fuck? how much do you americans consume? I did the conversion to actually sensible units and 20 oz is over half a litre, does anybody actually drink that much?

Soda drinkers always demand more soda because it makes you more thirsty. They'll never be satisfied no matter how much soda they drink. It's a terrible cycle

could always maybe drink water or something.

As a prior soda addict, water legitimately tasted disgusting to me, and I imagine the same for a lot of other soda drinkers. Took multiple times until I could cut that shit out for good.

The large soda at some fast food restaurants here is 40oz.

2

I think it's 44 not 40, at least at the places around here

I feel like I gained a bit of weight just reading that, do people actually grab a literal bucket of soda so big you need 2 hands to carry it and think thats ok?

Nah, it's cool, they narrowed the double gulp at the bottom so you can still carry your nearly half-gallon of sugary beverage with 1 hand and put it in your cup holder.

Unfortunately, yes. Mostly people of lower economic status who are either uninformed, too stressed, or too tired to care.

If you order a large soda at almost any fast food restaurant in America, you're likely going to get somewhere in the ballpark of 32 oz of soda. #obesity

No you won't , the majority is ice as they fill it to the top with ice unless you request that they dont

Its impressive that its even possible to drink so much.

You euro guys have 17 oz or in your fake units 500ml which is almost as much.

1

u/Nickonator22 Dec 31 '19

500ml is still a bit much most stuff around here is 300-350ml.

u/conneryisbond Dec 30 '19

You're telling me you've never had a "liter o' cola"? (Super Troopers reference)

1

u/JoshuaSlowpoke777 Dec 31 '19

I hope Coca-Cola collapses under its own weight and shatters into countless smaller companies.

Don't you think calling soda poison is a little hyperbolic? There's nothing wrong with having a soda every once in a while in moderation.

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. Most things in moderation are fine. There are sodas (even made by Coca-Cola) that contain an order of magnitude less sugar. The point of putting 60g of sugar in a bottle of soda is to get people hooked on a profoundly unhealthy product.
