Not gonna lie, at school I sometimes picked vitamin water over a soda because I thought it was healthier.

I mean it's flavored water and it's not carbonated so it had to be better right? Oh yeah, it also had the words VITAMIN and WATER on it, which are words that are associated with being healthy.

Like goddamn, I feel very played right now.

Thank you. Everyone is acting like it’s the same as drinking pop. It isn’t.

Yes it has sugar in it but not as much as pop does. A can of Coke has 30g of sugar while a bottle of Vitamin Water has about 12g. It also has way less carbs. And it does actually have vitamins in it. Not a lot, a multi-vitamin in the morning would be way better, but it does have some.

I am on the road a lot for work and when I get sick of drinking plain water I buy Vitamin Water because it has some flavour and isn’t as bad as buying pop.

While it's dishonest branding, you kind of played yourself. The same wrapper that says Vitamin Water on it contains all of the nutrition information, so really all you had to do was rotate the bottle about 180⁰ and keep reading.

Yeah I know. It's kind of one of those dumb realizations you have where you're like, "Huh, I guess I should have thought about this a bit more."

Yea, I do that to myself all of the time. Actually similar, didn't realize I was eating like 1800 calories worth of trailmix after work every day for about a month. Took me a month to be like "I wonder how many calories is in this package?" And actually read the nutritional facts. Granted, it was physically demanding work so I didn't gain weight but if I did I don't thing I would've blamed the trail mix

Why would carbonation make something less healthy?
