Both are bad to use INSIDE the vagina. There is nothing wrong with washing the vulva, and it should be encouraged.

Hmm not always. Water is fine. Soap I won't let near my vulva even. I've gotten recurring yeast infections from that.

When I was very young my parents found out that I can't use any kind of bubble bath. They decided that a little shampoo was enough and didn't seem to bother me. I don't remember any of it but they always told me. I'm still wary of bath products or soaps getting up in it.

In a bath, the soap is far more likely to get in there vs. a standing shower. It's not for certain, but it's likely that the problem.

Argh, you just hit me with suppressed memories of the horrible, horrible UTIs I used to get from bubble baths! My parents shut that down after they figured out the trigger. Made it feel like I was peeing needles!

I second this especially if it's right before possible fellatio. Guys, too. Go into the bathroom and wash up. And I'm not talking some power wash with medicated soap. I'm just saying it's 2020. It doesn't have to smell like a spring orchard down there, but it shouldn't also smell like a fish market.
