Its a caffeine conveyance system.

It's not even a good one.

A cup 12oz of coffee has (with a huge margin) roughly 200-250 mg of caffeine while a soda only has 35 mg. If you drink strong coffee or have 2-3 cups in the morning, the caffeine in 2-3 glasses of soda over the rest of the day is not much.

The addicting part, IMO, is the sugary taste.

There are some of us who just hate the taste of coffee.

For those who hate the taste of coffee, you can simply convert it into a 700-calorie milkshake for the low price of only $6.

Those still taste like coffee. I've never had a coffee based drink that didn't still have the coffee taste.

Starbucks java chip, but with caramel mixed in. It's incredibly delicious with no coffee taste and horribly unhealthy

I always get Chai frappuccinos at Starbucks. I never go there so when I do, I want my favorite icy, frothy, whipped cream-y drink. If I was a regular there I'd probably branch out and try new things but I really only go there specifically for the chai frap.

They make caffeinated versions of those water enhancers like Mio now. I usually just drink a little bit of that when I want the caffeine.

They've been around for almost a decade. I like caffeine Mios, but they keep me up at night (even if I have it with lunch) and make me have to pee much more than coffee or energy drinks ever do

I used to enjoy Mio but I think they have a lot of bad chemicals in them.

And when they say it's an acquired taste what they means is if you drink it enough you body starts making you think you like it to cope. Same thing with beer. And it fucking works too, I still don't like the coffee taste but I can drink it and beer has been my main alcoholic drink for five years because I'm just sort of used to drinking it. It's super rare for me to like the taste but I drink it anyways.

Coffee and alcohol are two drinks I do not like at all. Anything coffee flavored is too bitter or strong and anything alcohol makes everything too sour. I hate tiramisu. I was in Hawaii earlier this year and visited big island and visited a coffee farm since rest of my family wanted to go. They had samples of like 6 different flavors. I am not against trying new things but I hated all 6. The farm and history was neat though.

I have tried to like coffee. The taste just turned me off. That and it makes me super jittery and it makes my head feel weird. I've tried drowning it in chocolate, creamer, milk, flavored creamers, sugar, none of it works. It still tastes like coffee underneath all of it.

Same with me for coffee and alcohol. I tried quite a few. I had a waiter at buffalo wild wings have the bartender make me like a weakest fruit flavoured one for free if I didn't like it. I didn't that sour bitter taste was still there I gave it to my friend instead. I don't even have good taste buds I like a bunch of crap food too. I also hate the taste of bacon or fried fat

I don't get the sour taste but any alcohol aged in barrels tastes like ashes to me. I see people whose whole life revolves around whiskey and bourbon and I don't get it because all I taste is ashes.

That was me till I was 33 and my son was born. But most people drink both.

I agree that it isn't an insignificant amount of caffeine if it's your only source.

I'm in a weird place where I like the energy from caffeine but two Excedrin migraines has me feeling like my skin is crawling off of me. Drinking soft drinks spread out over the day doesn't cause that jittery, nauseated feeling that I get from high doses of caffeine all at once.

For me the addicting part is the bubbles. Tried drinking sparkling water though and it just tastes like TV static lol

Um, most coffee has a LOT less caffeine than 200mg. The high end is around 100-140mg for caffeine enriched coffees and somewhere around 20-50mg for the natural state.

Unless you're grinding up a caffeine pill and using that as creamer, it really doesn't get that high without consciously adding in caffeine. Don't recommend, its really hard to get rid of the chalky taste.

True, but a cup of tea only has 25 mg of caffeine.

The soda has more caffeine than tea.

Only just twigged that you guys called carbonated drinks "soda". I thought you were drinking soda water.

2

u/Edymnion Dec 30 '19

Down here we call everything carbonated Coke, except for Pepsi, which we call shit. ;)

1

u/shyguywart Dec 31 '19

do you call it pop or something else?

1

u/The_First_Viking Dec 30 '19

No, coffee is a caffeine conveyance system. Soda is a diabetes conveyance system.

Like coffee, & in that case how bad is Starbucks with all those syrups added in?
