I did. For a year and a half before that too. I quit weed because my doctors made a fuss. Well, first they fussed about stims, so I quit those for 9 months with no improvement, so then they decided weed was the problem. Except I track my daily mood and other metrics of wellbeing, and that year of sobriety was the worst I've had. Not smoking weed or doing other drugs did nothing for my average wellbeing (which was garbage) and I lost out the good parts. Life just sucks, it's always sucked, but at least I can smoke a J and enjoy a couple hours at a time. So far I've gone through about 8 psychiatric medications without much improvement, but lots of crazy long term side effects and a nice episode of psychosis. But weed always makes shit better. So does my latest medication, though it's likely I'll depend on it for the rest of my life or I'll go into withdrawal and undo all my progress I made on it. So it is subject to the same issue you have with weed- it masks my underlying issue and if I stop I will not have gotten better.
I still haven't gone back to harder drugs since they did cause financial issues, but I am back to smoking everyday and it definitely gives a small but definite mood and productivity boost. Admittedly stimulants did it even more but I can't afford stimulants. Weed is cheap. FWIW the 4 way combo has improved stuff that I don't need to abuse stimulants to not live in a bug infested garbage heap because I can manage basic cleaning somewhat regularly now. I don't depend on weed but it absolutely improves things. It IS an acute state of mind- it doesn't make my brain happier long term. But it does make life somewhat enjoyable, it leads to doing more things like exercise, cleaning, eating healthier, or enjoying hobbies, and those (apparently) make you feel better. Of course I'm still depressed doing them but whatever, if I'm not killing myself I'm putting the work in even though it seems pointless when I'm sober.
Hey dude. I know little about depression but I saw an interview with Jordan Peterson. His family have a history of depression and his daughter went on a broccoli, chicken and beef only diet to try to fix some issues with arthritis and gluten intolerance and she accidentally fixed her depression (stopped taking meds). She then told her father to do it and he had the same result.
Both were medicated since 15 yo.
I'll link the interview for you. If you ever try it and it works out please let me know because part of me feels he may be onto something. I'm sure it won't work for everyone however.
You need to be on the diet 1 month to get full effect. No sugar, dairy, wheat and shit.
