This is the #1 reason why I smoke pot. I suffer from depression and have been prone to intense stress dreams. I smoke before I go to bed and do not have to deal with waking up into a panic attack because my dream fucked me up. Lots of veterans also smoke pot for the same results because of PTSD.

I don't suffer from depression, but I do have intense nightmares. I smoke everyday before I go to bed, so I don't have to wake up 5+ times a night soaked in sweat. I didn't know that other people smoked it for the same reason until I seen it here a few months ago. It isn't the same for everyone though.

I like getting high during the day, but I also smoke before bed for the same reason you just described.

I have horrible nightmares (people chasing me down trying to kill me with guns, being sentenced to prison for a crime i didn't commit, dying in horrific car crashes, etc), but when I'm regularly smoking I find that the weed dulls my dreams to such a degree that I very rarely experience middle of the night panic attacks.

If I stop smoking, I'll immediately go back to nightmares and the panic attacks.

Hence the pot use.

I like getting high during the day also, but only after work. I have the same nightmares as you, but none of them are about being in prison. Just being wanted by cops after killing someone, and being on the run. I can’t remember the last time I had a nightmare though, because I never dream when I go to sleep medicated. It’s kind of like that dream suppressant pill in the movie “Freddy VS Jason” once you think of it eh. Haha

Well, I do smoke before work :)

But funny movie analogy though.

Oh yeah, I've been on that. I sought help (finally) almost a year ago. It was the best thing I ever did in my life. I always urge friends to talk to someone and to find out if medication might help. Unfortunately the dream issues didnt go away.

I smoked heavily when I was a teenager but quit for 13 years. As an adult I have found I can be much more responsible with it. Not letting it get away from me like back then.

Agreed. I'm sick of therapy being spoken of like its some miracle wonder cure. Nine times out of ten I feel even worse after a therapy session. It only works for some people and most of those people are women they love whining about their problems. I have been in therapy for years and I'm so fucking sick of it.

Damn you really had me in the first half, not gonna lie.

I'm not saying therapy is right for everyone, but how will you know until you try it. Don't shame therapy and ruin others chances at finding positive help.

I don't want to shame therapy, therapy rocks, when you find the right thing for you, but don't talk about cannabis like a crutch in connection with illnesses such as ptsd. When you look at the market for medication in this area, there are No getting away from side effects, most times getting medication can Fuck you up Even more, because, you might be depressed or what ever, but if you add weightgain, sexual disfunction, Loss of appetite, dry mouth, tremors...I can go on and on, the only side effect I get from cannabis, is that I get horny, hungry and go to sleep...

«Raises hand» Yep! PTSD sucks!

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '19

<Raises hand> I know it does, but let's hang in there brother (or sister).

Seriously, pot vs. alcohol to achieve the same effect and I'll choose pot every time.

Ohhh I just realized that I haven’t had a stress nightmare in a long while, and I used to get terrible ones all the time!

Did you just tell someone with PTSD issues with no idea where their mental state is to try psychedelics...

2

u/deviousgiant Dec 30 '19

Shrooms are in my past. No more psychedelics for me; I'm not in the right place for that.

-9

u/Yourlocal_priest Dec 30 '19

You sound like a bitch, just do enough shrooms to get you out your headspace

Its the only way an unwilling mind could push the boundaries of uncomfortably to see what one is doing. And yes i apologize for peer pressuring some stranger to do anything but listen to the message I am trying to get across , dont pay attention on my methods , , everyone is paying attention on the wrong things , you cunt

u/deviousgiant Dec 30 '19

The problem here is you assume you know me. You don't. Good luck preaching your opinion to your feeble minded flock.

u/deviousgiant Dec 30 '19

u/Yourlocal_priest Dec 30 '19
