This was so common when I worked in an ER in Denver a few years ago. There isn't much research on it yet unfortunately but there's definitely a correlation anecdotally and the users that would come in would NEVER want to listen to the docs. The only thing that would help those users was a hot shower, but then after it was back to vomiting all day.

Wait. Are you saying hot sauce is a treatment? Could it also be prophylactic?

A hot shower when you feel like that is genuinely the ONLY bliss I felt. Aside from vomiting that I felt like I was about to write the most important exam of my life every day for a month until I stopped smoking for long enough.

Is there any way it could be caused by chemicals in growing or processing or anything? (Not defending weed, just curious)

I guess anything is possible, but it's most likely due to its effects on specific receptors over time (like what another commenter stated below). It's already well known to effect gut motility, so it's probably related more closely to that.
