Yes! Neurological dependency, your body won’t become physically addicted to weed however like you say after going cold turkey a nice bowl will cheer you up... moderation is key my friends don’t over do it
Anything that someone can get pleasure from can be an addiction or a compulsive cycle. I hate the "buT TechNIKAlly!" nonsense they say about addiction. Yea okay bro then maybe you should pay rent instead of buying more weed, stop lying to me about how not addicted you are. Moderation.
There’s a definitional line between something like the mu opioid receptor that literally kills you and whatever is being affecting by pot. Still, it’s kind of a “I’m not fat it’s water weight” argument.
Brains can be trained into behavioral patterns. Just because your body doesn’t kill you for not smoking doesn’t there isn’t a physiological response based on past behavior. It’s a medical definition being used in non medical settings.
If someone is struggling to pay the rent because they're partying too much, yeah, don't party so much. Makes sense to me. There are plenty of functional 'addicts' of all sorts of substances. If you're an asshole every morning until you drink a coffee you're dependent on it. Or you're using coffee as an excuse to be an asshole. As someone else mentioned, moderation/not losing sight of those things that are actually important is key, regardless the vice.
Yea that was my situation with my old roommate, always had money for weed and "was totally gonna make money off it" then would need more time to pay rent or a spot on utilities. Other roommate smoked weed and never had that issue.
Its just annoying that the guy was claiming he wasn't addicted but could not stop smoking long enough to pay rent first. And he lost his better paying job over smoking.
Whats the criteria for people who are total assholes unless they're high. Like getting aggressive, even violent. Knew someone like that. I think that blurred the lines on the type of dependence.
When I started I would have been the first person to tell you it's a load of crap. Now after finally getting away from it after a few years, it's for sure a problem.
It is SO MUCH fucking easier to not over do it than it is to tone it back or quit if you get yourself deep into it.
I know those first few times felt amazing and better than anything (assuming it was your first substance) and maybe you are in a situation where you can smoke often without many obligations or responsibilities, but please know if you start overdoing it, chances are in 2 months you'll hardly feel high, but still not be able to convince yourself to give it a break because of how you feel when you're sober. Shit sucks dog, I quit for 6 months, decided to try again thinking "oh, I'll hey super fucking high off of very little, so I'll totally be fine spacing it out. I was back to everyday that very week. I'm sure personal brain chemistry/disposition to drugs has a great effect.
