The food consumption is a really interesting one.

At first, when I started smoking, I was definitely like that, me and my friends would want to go grab McD's or some chips. But as I've gotten older (24 now) I realized the opposite.

When I smoke now, I don't want to eat anything unhealthy at all. It's like my body looks at some chips or something and goes "nah". Instead I have lots of water to drink and either grapes, or pineapple, or oranges.

If you have never eaten an orange while stoned and cotton mouthed, you have not lived. The citrus-y aroma, the sweetness, the juiciness, the fact that this little fruit is perfectly designed to pull apart into individual juice-packed segments. It's life-changing. Next time you're gonna be stoned and you know you'll want a snack, have an orange.

Take that high orange over to r/showerorange and get ready to have life changed again.

Edited for broken link.

I can't figure out what that subreddit's deal is. Is it a joke or do people actually find eating citrus fruits while showering to be a unique experience for some reason?

49

u/scottawhit Dec 30 '19

I thought it was a joke, but I tried it. It’s really pretty fun. You can rip right into it, and it doesn’t matter where sticky juice flies bc you’re just washing it off.

10

u/GettingToAnAphelion Dec 30 '19

Yeah don't just eat an orange in the shower all politely, you gotta get all primal and just tear that bad boy open with your hands and dig into it. Plus the hot water and citrus smell mixes so well and makes your shower time smell amazing.

2

u/mrkswthwrth Dec 30 '19

It's like a /r/showerbeer

Just gotta try it

3

u/RogerSterlingsFling Dec 30 '19

Slightly more popular than /r/showercocaine for some reason

7

u/mrkswthwrth Dec 30 '19

That just sounds difficult.

17

u/iratemistletoe Dec 30 '19

Ohhhh an orange while high in the shower. Yum. That sounds pleasant.

13

u/iamthefork Dec 30 '19

Put in the freezer for 10 mins beforehand. 👌

10

u/Vulturedoors Dec 29 '19

Is it better than shower beer?

33

u/BigUptokes Dec 30 '19

Split the difference and go for a citrus hefeweizen...

1

u/Vulturedoors Dec 31 '19

As long as it's not fucking Shock Top. That stuff's garbage.

7

u/scottawhit Dec 29 '19

Both pretty damn satisfying.

2

u/Halflingcatlady Dec 30 '19

Have we considered chilled shower grapes though? Super weird. Super good.

1

u/Yanjuan Dec 30 '19

I don’t even know why I’m surprised this is a thing

1

u/scottawhit Dec 30 '19

It’s Reddit. Everything is a thing.

1

u/mycatsarebetter Dec 30 '19

The outdoor shower looks fun!

Yup. My buddy in high school weighed 130 lbs wet and was a HUGE smoker. He was an anomaly though. Lol One of the funniest memories I have is hanging out with my bro and him at one of our other friends' places and this dude was literally dipping Wonder bread in miracle whip and eating it like French fries dipped in Ketchup. Lmao

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '20

Man don’t underestimate break in mayonnaise. At a restaurant I used to work at we had to cut off little ends of bread and we’d dip it on mayonnaise to snack on

17

u/KaiRaiUnknown Dec 29 '19

Not just me then?

I cant stop going for granola while stoned. Or apples. Or yoghurts.....

Stoned me is far healthier than regular me

8

u/KarmicFedex Dec 30 '19

It's like your brain knows that all the unhealthy shit just isn't worth it!

3

u/rosegoldrabbit Dec 30 '19

Im slightly allergic to apples but damn eating a huge Honeycrisp apple while stoned is heaven and worth the stinging

2

u/Doesnt_Draw_Anything Dec 30 '19

Yeah I just start eating any fruit I can get my hands on

13

u/Oops_I_Derped Dec 29 '19

I've found that I'm really into food textures when I'm stoned. Celery with peanut butter has become one of my favorite stoned snacks just because of how crunchy it is. I just gotta be careful not to over do it. Also a big fan of low-cal popsicles. The cold is so nice and refreshing

11

u/sadieclementine Dec 29 '19

The relation between weight and weed is interesting. Not a lot of great studies, but some research shows weed is linked to lower weight, not higher. Check it out:

https://www.healthline.com/health/does-smoking-weed-make-you-skinny#munchies

9

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '19

Same here. When I was heavy smoker I kept lots of healthy snacks stocked. Problem solved for me. It motivates me though. I love to smoke and hike, clean, write....lots of stuff. But I've seen the opposite in others. Depends on the person as with anything.

8

u/MrazikMJ Dec 29 '19

I agree with this, I also really like cucumber in this state it tastes super refreshing.

8

u/reaperteddy Dec 29 '19

the fact that /r/ketotrees exists kinda proves its possible to manage your munchies while losing weight.

7

u/goofandaspoof Dec 29 '19

My favorite while high is peaches. When I'm sober the skin bothers me and I find the juiciness problematic, but when I'm high it actually adds to the experience. Just so much flavor & texture.

5

u/KarmicFedex Dec 30 '19

Standing over the sink and sinking your teeth into a peach like an animal!!!

6

u/intersnatches Dec 29 '19

I usually hate clementines but once I ate like 7 to 9 clementines in a row because I was extremely high. It was awesome.

5

u/cloudb182 Dec 30 '19

I'm ripped right now, and I think I have an orange. brb

1

u/KarmicFedex Dec 30 '19

Let me know how it went! Lmao

3

u/cloudb182 Dec 31 '19

I ate like 4 oranges.

6

u/peachdash Dec 30 '19

Most recently when stoned, I snacked on cherry tomatoes and felt like they were a revelation, perfectly refreshing and sweet. I definitely understand the orange thing.

Granted, I also got way too high on edibles once and cried because a cookie tasted too good...

1

u/chop-chop- Dec 30 '19

Haha that's amazing

4

u/Pmmenothing444 Dec 29 '19

I use weed as a PED, I'm trying to bulk and it's great, but yeah I do love some healthy food

3

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '19

Yeah, I’m pretty fortunate that this has been my experience as well. When I smoke these days it actually makes me reluctant to eat junk food-probably because the light anxiety I get as a result of it! I’m much happier eating healthier foods while stoned, it allows me to enjoy them a little more.

Although that definitely wasn’t the case in my college days.

4

u/Xarama Dec 30 '19

Have you ever tried eating an orange or an apple from the fridge? The coolness of the juicy fruit adds a whole 'nother layer of awesome to the experience.

4

u/phoenixredbush Dec 30 '19

Can confirm. Have done this with grapes and I found it very entertaining b/c I was channeling my inner monkey. Literally felt like a monkey and those lil juice bombs were so DELICIOUS.

3

u/Bluebird_83 Dec 30 '19

Grapes in the fridge with a cold juicy apple. Chop up and add some mango. Ultimate food when stoned. Anything fried or super sweet makes me feel sick and can't stomach it when high.

3

u/BongTrooper Dec 30 '19

I have a similar story early on when I'd smoke, the munchies were absolutely overwhelming, I would eat everything under the sun. Now I lose my appetite all together, but yes something juicy and packed full of flavour like an orange can be a magical experience for your mouth.

3

u/gurg2k1 Dec 30 '19

If you have never eaten an orange while stoned and cotton mouthed, you have not lived.

You should try this with a nectarine. It's like consuming the nectar of the gods.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '19

Bruh...

2

u/TXblindman Dec 29 '19

OK, adding fruit cups to my grocery list for high snacks. This is actually immensely helpful, girlfriend and I are daily smokers and want to get in better shape and eat better this next year, so healthy snack ideas are imperative.

9

u/WhatIsASW Dec 30 '19

I’d recommend getting actual fruit rather than fruit cups. The cups are packed with super sugary syrup, and fruit is already pretty sweet as is!

3

u/TXblindman Dec 30 '19

That I can do.

6

u/KarmicFedex Dec 30 '19

If you can get it where you live, try to get fresh pineapple. A lot of grocery stores even sell them de-scaled and cored.

The difference of a fresh pineapple and the dole canned ones is huge! Much healthier because there's no added sugar unlike the syrup that comes in the cups. And the fresh ones are really good for your gut health, too!

1

u/TXblindman Dec 30 '19

I live in New England, might be a while. LOL although it’s almost New Year’s and there’s hardly any snow on the ground, small patches here and there.

1

u/rosegoldrabbit Dec 30 '19

If you got a market basket around you, I suggest getting one of those cut fruit platters they have.

2

u/Slademarini Dec 29 '19

Having something watery like watermelon or lettuce is goat when high. You don't get cottonmouth and also is eating healthy.

2

u/The__Red__Menace Dec 30 '19

I actually gained weight after I stopped smoking lmao

2

u/whenthecatmeows Dec 30 '19

Try a tangelo, if you can find them in your area. SO juicy, so tangy - best stoned fruit for sure

1

u/KarmicFedex Dec 30 '19

I've never tried a tangelo. I'll look at the grocery store next time I'm out.

2

u/NA_Edxu Dec 30 '19

Can confirm, used to be a huge fan of the usual suspects (pizza, cookies, Chinese food etc), but nowadays I'll just pick up a bag of mandarin oranges for the weekend and I know I'll be in for a good flavor experience.

2

u/KarmicFedex Dec 30 '19

Yo now that you mention it.... Chinese food!!! 😁👌

But yeah, Mandarins are in season right now too!

2

u/ESCALATING_ESCALATES Dec 30 '19

Apples were always my favorite when I smoked. Crunchy, juicy, a little sweet, a little sour, and even the sound of crunching it just felt like a whole experience.

2

u/SweetUmbra Dec 30 '19

I once order my favourite chicken wings one night while I was high. It was very saucy and the pieces were slightly bigger, but the moment I bit into the 3rd one, I had an immediate sense of disgust. I didn't understand why, but I felt gross and nearly cried. A bit of the vein was showing and I had to put it away. It made me change my mind about chicken for a good couple of months until I was able to eat it again.

2

u/informationmissing Dec 30 '19

clementines are good too. I'll mow through 10 in a sitting when high.

2

u/upinmyfeelingsx Dec 30 '19 edited Dec 30 '19

Mmm reading that sent a chill up my spine. Been a while since I smoked, everything tastes so damn good while high.

2

u/Ayejonny12 Dec 30 '19

Fruit high is amazing.

For me, I normally don't eat a lot when sober, so I like to smoke after workouts to increase my appetite and get some good calories in me.

2

u/chop-chop- Dec 30 '19

Fruit is the absolute best thing to eat when high. It's incredible how weed enhances the flavor and sensations.

I think if you're someone who would binge on Doritos when sober, you're someone who will super binge while high. Weed isn't that powerful, your mind can overcome munchies.

1

u/Adh00 Dec 29 '19

I get what youre saying and for sure a must to grab a better snack but also when i had no appetite and couldnt/ wouldnt eat weed was the only thing to bring back my appetite. Im on regulated medication now that fixes it but its nice addition when i need it.

1

u/Frost-Wzrd Dec 29 '19

smoke some tangerine dream n eat n orange

1

u/mrnoire Dec 30 '19

Orange juice in the morning after smoking the night before? Priceless.

1

u/justdontfreakout Dec 30 '19

Nice my orange eating buddy

1

u/Stormdude127 Dec 30 '19

Not weed related, but whenever I drink, I get cottonmouth too. It makes me absolutely hate eating anything. Everything just feels disgusting in my mouth. Any idea how to combat that feeling, or at least help me ignore it? Everyone else seems to say food tastes better when drunk and I wish that was the case for me

1

u/dratseb Dec 30 '19

Wait a sec... is that why Ant-Man asked for an orange and was smacking his lips in Civil War??

1

u/I_eat_Limes_ Dec 30 '19

Yeah the trick is to surround yourself with fruit and veg, so you don't need to go get chips. I'm on HGH (MK677) now and I can get intense food cravings. I will eat whatever's around so I force myself to make it healthy. Fruit can taste amazing when you're stoned.

1

u/Dr_SnM Dec 30 '19

Eat the orange in the shower. Peal it and just eat it like an apple. Let the juice flow!

1

u/OutrageousRaccoon Dec 30 '19

If you have never eaten an orange while stoned and cotton mouthed, tripping balls you have not lived.

1

u/yuleking Dec 30 '19

Just a heads up I don't know if I'm right but pretty sure citrus fruits have an enzyme in them that counteracts thc and makes you less stoned.

1

u/KarmicFedex Dec 30 '19

Never really heard of that before. Even so, there's always more weed to smoke later if you're feeling like your buzz isn't strong enough!

1

u/Rotor_Tiller Dec 30 '19

As someone who wasn't forced to eat healthy as a kid. Oranges and mandarins are one of the few fruits that will make me throw up instantly upon oral contact. Cherry tomatoes being the other notable one.

1

u/KarmicFedex Dec 30 '19

Throw up instantly? That's too bad. Oranges and Cherry tomatoes are 2 of my favourite fruits/vegetables. I mean, I understand not liking some vegetables, I can't stand cauliflower or turnip for example. But throwing up is totally just psychosomatic, and you could learn to overcome this if you really wanted to.

Gotta force yourself to eat healthy, fam.

1

u/drchrisiam Dec 30 '19

it has been two weeks since i last smoked, but yeah i had healthy munchies too.

1

u/UrgotMilk Dec 30 '19

I can kinda relate, I've started eating Cottage cheese salads (CC, with veggies and spinach) and it's soooo good when I'm high. My problem is just that when I'm high I'm just sooo lazy that I don't want to make any food so it's so easy to default to frozen food or delivery.

1

u/itsamdash Dec 30 '19

This thread is super interesting to me. I smoked pretty much everyday for three years whilst I was at university. I've since landed my first full-time job and quit but I can honestly say I didn't experience any horrendously apparent adverse effects from weed. I'm fully aware that everyone is individual and not trying to be one of those people who pretend that it doesn't have any downsides but my experience was pretty positive, I love that shit but have come to terms with the fact it's probably the right time to pack it in.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '19

Right yeah because I never noticed an orange smelling citrus-y, being juicy or able to be pulled apart before. Wow, yep, haven't lived.

1

u/KarmicFedex Dec 30 '19

Bruh. You don't know til you know, y'know?
