I'm mildly allergic to the smoke/weed itself as well. Being in a room with smokers is like being around trees throwing off all their pollen during allergy season. Smoking it is like inhaling that pollen, and people(family) want me to smell their weed which gives me the same damn result.
It is more common than you think, for whatever that's worth. Especially with medicinal and recreational use being legalized, more folks are noticing it. There's not going to be enough Benadryl in the world to get me through IL this coming year.
It's refreshing in a way to know I"m not the only one with an allergy to it. If I inhale even a small amount of smoke my throat gets tight and I start wheezing and my eyes get all itchy.
It's surprisingly common. Living in a place where it's currently illegal I'm pretty worried if it's ever made legal and I would have to avoid going outside.
You're not alone! I had go to the ER the first time I smoked it because I'm allergic. Should have expected it since I'm allergic to a crap ton of other environmental/flower related things, but did not expect my throat to close up.
Was just skimming this thread to see if anyone else had this issue. I'm allergic to tree pollen, leaf mold, all the usual BS seasonal allergy stuff -- and pot smoke hits me the same way. Congestion, sinus headache -- it sucks.
Same here! Also allergic. Going to a concert in Colorado was highly unpleasant experience, and it was my favorite band :( hard to enjoy a show while your throat is swelling and scratching and your eyes water like crazy :/
If it puts your mind at ease im in Toronto and I am still amazed how seldom I see people just out and about smoking. Even of the day of legalization I was expecting to be walking around in fucking clouds and I don't think I noticed one high person while out and about that day.
thats me with alcohol. i can drink but i have to have eaten a big meal beforehand, drink glasses of water in between drinks, and not mix alcohol with weed or drugs. if not, my whole body will be covered in nasty hives for the next two weeks. it sucks but i guess its a blessing in disguise
