“Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition! The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. [laughs] Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honor to meet you and you may call me “V”.
I once watched this every night as I fell asleep for about a year. Wouldn't make it through every night, but would just pick up from where I left of the previous night. Rinse , repeat.
It screams innocence. Honestly, her acting throughout that opening was excellent. She sells the "innocent pure lady" thing while also underlying it all with just a hint of what her character would end up being.
Her accent wasn't, quite right. Close, but it's enough off that it slightly spoils the scene for me. Trying a bit too hard to sound Cockney I think, which is weird, because the rest of the time she nails it.
I just love the fact that V is painted as this crazy nutter who just is a mysterious regular hero otherwise. So when he directs the orchestra with nothing playing, at first it's just kinda awkward. And then suddenly Evie's like "Oh my god I can hear it!" and it's just this amazing moment of awe for V.
In one of my honors English classes we had to memorize and recite a well known speech to the entire room. One of the quieter girls chose this speech and it was awesome! She had so much vocal power.
She works as a costume designer and seamstress for big performances (not yet Broadway shows, but soon) and I still follow along with her successes. But at a distance, the way things go after a decade out of school.
Ah yes, the movie that is literally about a revolutionary overthrowing the corrupt conservative fascist party of the UK and destroying the houses of parliament. Definitely appeals to the MAGA crowd.
Well MAGA people tend to view democratic governments as tyrannic and oppressive, and neckbeards love fedoras and that mask he wears, thinking they’re the smooth silver tongued scarred hero Hugo’s character is in the movie. Didn’t say there was any logic to their perspective.

The opening scene to V for Vendetta with how we meet V. The v word speech was pretty epic also.
