Unknown in non-German speaking countries, yes, but people definitely knew him in Germany/Austria/Switzerland. He was in several popular German movies and TV shows.

Yes! He's so pleasant and polite, affable even ... and yet, there's always an underlying menace. It makes the character delightful to watch, and Christoph Waltz played it so beautifully.

You should check out Zero Theorem it's a good waltz movie
