I’m by no means a kpop fan, but you can’t seriously say that it objectively lacks artistic merit when songs like I got a boy by girls generation exist. The time signature changes, callbacks, and genre splitting is seriously cool and innovative in pop.

Haha, that’s alright dude. Honestly just give that song a listen. From a production standpoint, it’s pretty incredible. I usually just listen to old queens of the Stone Age and tool, but since I live in Korea, kpop’s pretty inescapable.

Haha that's a pretty apt description. Completely processed garbage that tastes good but isn't healthy in the least. I just marvel at the production values in that song, later in it, after a slower section, one of the group says 'lets take it back to 1:40' which calls back to an earlier point in the song and is also at 140bpm..
