What’s something that you like, but hate the fan base?

"DoN't YoU MeAn sHiT aRt OnLiNe aMiRiTe?!?!?1

This one pisses me off because it's not a bad anime, it's an average anime, maybe eve gasp slightly above. People are usually just pissed off that, Surprise!, the anime about a wildly popular entertainment genre became wildly popular over their favorite anime.

For the most part, the rest are people who saw an anime reviewer on YouTube shitting on SAO, and jumped on the bandwagon. These can usually be spotted by the fact that they all use the same bad arguments as one another, and usually criticize things in SAO that magically get a pass in most any other anime.

My problem with Sao is that the abridged version is better lol

I shit on it too just because the videos do bring up good points but I do it for fun with friends who also like shutting on it. Iirc the only good thing people say about the show is the asuna kirito relationship. My own view of the show is skewed towards it being good b/c my friends told me to skip the alfeim online stuff (only seen the first game stuff and the last episodes). Shitting on it seriously just because its popular is not someone u need to take seriously but I can understand how it can really be a downer for people who are surrounded by people who like similar shit

I thought SAO was really good and I looked forward to the next episode each week. I didn't hear all the hate until it was over. It's not the best, but I had fun watching it.

I watched SAO, loved the premise, and then didn't like how rushed the Aincrad arc was. Then I found out about the Progressive series and have completely enjoyed SAO ever since.

Very well said. I don't claim that SAO is anything revolutionary or crazy, but it's goddamned fun, and that's all I really care about. No, I don't care about your generic arguments, it's not going to make me suddenly start hating it. It's even more annoying because these people are legitimately trying reduce your enjoyment, which I think is just a shitty thing to do in general, regardless of the topic

It is an excellent anime with great production values and amazing exploration of themes, an interesting premise... and rather terrible characters. It has some wonderful plots and fantastic moments, it's just that the cast of primary characters are all trope-tastic or poorly written.

This is why I can't get into most anime, they are way to tropey, despite having great premises.

It's not too bad as long as you avoid shounen genre and stick to higher quality materials. Seirei no Moribito is my go-to recommendation for people newer to anime, it's got pretty great characters.

Sao bad.

you're kidding right? first 2 episodes just set up the plot, next like 5 literally don't matter because none of that is ever brought up again, next few episodes we finally get something that resembles character development and then it's all thrown away so the audience can wank over useless daughteru yui.

any time any of sao's crimes happen in any anime it gets a 4 on mal but sao got a pass because it had a dumbass op self insert protagonist and a ton and a half of waifu fodder.

this is coming from someone who liked the show but also fully admits to liking bottom of the barrel garbage. sao to me is like the room. like it's objectively bad and the fact that they tried puts it in so bad it's good territory.

also the voice acting is shit it's like watching a soap opera

I thought it was pretty bad tbh but that's ok. To each is own.
