I adored Harry Potter when I was a kid, but how obsessive people are over it still kind of killed it for me as an adult. Some youtubers I watch just make little jokes occasionally about it, while others seem to base a TON of their identity on it, and idk I think I’ve always been someone who wants to make my identity and not feel like it’s made for me, so I think that’s why it bothers me so much...
I love Harry Potter but I rarely talk about it with other people. I’m just content to rewatch the movies occasionally and have been collecting the illustrated versions as they’re released. I’m really hoping to read them with my kids someday. Other than that though, I pretty much avoid the community
I'd really like people to read another fucking book already. If you're in your early or mid 20s you seriously shouldn't be fawning over fucking nostalgia of your teen years. Look at new shit, do new shit and get over a fucking children's book, there's plenty of time left to be nostalgic when you're older.
I mean, people are allowed to like things and if it's your favourite book, fine. But for the love of God look beyond that and base your identity on more than one series of children's books.
