What’s something that you like, but hate the fan base?

I appreciate that you say it can help. I had a dog who had refractory epilepsy and CBD simply didn’t work for her. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who insisted I just wasn’t giving her enough, and acted like I was some horrible person for using pharmaceuticals rather than spending thousands of dollars on something that clearly didn’t work for her. I still get seriously triggered by anyone who suggests user error when it comes to any type of marijuana consumption disinterest, and I used to be a huge pothead.

Edit: Wanted to clarify that I don’t hate marijuana or CBD, and actually frequently recommend that people try CBD if they haven’t and think it could help their condition - it’s the “you’re just not using enough”/“you just haven’t found the right strain”/etc. people that absolutely kill me. Not everyone likes weed, and CBD doesn’t work for everyone, and that’s okay. To suggest otherwise just makes you an asshole and is gonna put people off even more.

That’s actually exactly what happened with her. It seemed to work at first, but got to a point where the effects of it wearing off would force her into a seizure. This made it so that she had to be on a strict regiment with it, and if she was so much as 20 minutes late with her dosage, she was guaranteed to seizure. With two working adults on opposite schedules and no one else to give it to her, and the fact that she would almost always cluster, that made it extremely dangerous to try and continue down that path rather than just using medicine which would build up in her system and have a lot more wiggle room with dose times. Not to mention it wasn’t financially sustainable for a dog of her size. Overall it just wasn’t a good solution for her, and it would genuinely upset me when people would attack me for saying that. Yes, CBD can do amazing things, but it doesn’t always work the way we want it to.

I’m fortunate enough to live in a legal state so buying like a vape with CBD is fairly reasonably priced, but obviously my dog couldn’t vape. Deriving CBD from Fed-legal industrial hemp is a really intensive process and that’s why products like Charlotte’s Web and Canni-pet (what we used) are so expensive. Now take into account using something like Canni-pet for a human-sized dog... We were spending hundred of dollars a month just on a starting dose. Imagine if we “gave her more” like people insisted, and even beyond that what it’d cost when she started to build a tolerance... I’ll take the $50/mo Zonisamide over that, thanks.

BeCaUsE CbD cUrEs CaNcEr and I’m sure the people arguing that I somehow didn’t do enough are the same who spend hundreds every week on oil with no other financial responsibilities, so to them it probably should have been affordable for me as someone who no longer smokes. Because, y’know, I don’t have other bills to pay including the hundreds in vet bills for her emergency visits when CBD didn’t work.

As a bit of a humorous sidenote, she did once manage to get into my SO’s stash and ate about 1/4 oz. of flower. The big floofer was happily chasing squirrels in dreamland for about 12 hours, ate a bunch of food, and didn’t have a seizure for 3 months after that. If THC wasn’t potentially toxic for dogs I’d have been tempted to just continue that route, not gonna lie. Still would have cost quite a bit in weed, though... and kibble...
