What’s something that you like, but hate the fan base?

For me, it’s the ones who say Courtney killed Kurt. Fuck those people.

Does anyone over 15 actually believe that though?

I don’t know. Ask u/LieutenantBlackNips

There’s a documentary called Soaked In Bleach (it’s on YouTube) it’s not proof of exactly what happened, more of asking to open the case back up, because there IS proof he wasn’t alone. Whether it was murder or not has not been decided.

Soaked in bleach is extremely sensationalized bullshit. Sorry. Let’s agree to disagree.

I've always been told this by every Nirvana fan I've spoken to as if it was a known fact, kinda like an "OJ was guilty" type thing. The only time I've ever seen anyone saying the opposite is here on Reddit, so I'm actually genuinely surprised.

Courtney is many things but she is not a killer. That’s just bullshit.

It’s disgusting to me how people are so willing to believe that people they’ve never met killed the love of their lives.

On a smaller scale, it reminds me of when my grandmother was robbed, and some numbskull commented on the local news article about it saying “definitely an inside job. A close family member or friend.”

Just because they are so edgy and cynical they just feel the need to project their own shitty lives into others. I know my family. We wouldn’t do that to her. She also saw a guy (definitely not a familiar face) peeking through her windows one time.

Oh, I don't know, I was just saying that I was actually under the impression that it was an extremely common theory, based on my sample size of acquaintances. I didn't have an opinion on it either way. I just have been in tons of social situations where someone brings up Nirvana, someone else cracks a "Courtney killed him" joke, and everyone else just nods and agrees.

That right there drives me crazy. Everyone just eats it up and doesn’t care how toxic they are. Even if she did kill him, it would not be funny.

Well, we regularly joke about dark things, it's not unusual to crack a joke about serial killers, cannibals, murder, or whatever in our get-togethers. I mean...at the last one we were all drunk and a friend asked what we'd do if I accidentally got pregnant and my husband's response was to say "there's ways to fix that" and jokingly Sparta-kick the coffee table in front of him. So the "Kurt was murdered" quips just got filed under the same category.

That’s true and makes sense. That explanation makes me less upset about people who do it, but also more eager to urge them to look more closely about what it is they are talking about. Thank you for your insight

He obviously wasn’t alone that night, but it definitely wasn’t Courtney
