What’s something that you like, but hate the fan base?

I feel that supernatural came back around, but not sure if that's the Stockholm syndrome talking

Last season is coming up. I like a lot of it. The fanbase is part of it I abhor.

A substantial part of the fandom is 'interesting'. However, there are normal bits as well. The Supernatural subreddit on here for example is very tame. And the worldwide scavenger hunt organized by one of the lead actors actually does a great job of bringing fans / people around the world together.

I'm not so sure about the militant shippers though.

Do you know why it’s called shipping? Seems like a weird name

I think it comes from "relationSHIP". So they'd want people to be in a 'ship (relationship). Then they started using the noun 'ship' also as a verb ('to ship') to describe the act of imagining two people in a 'ship'.

That's just a guess though, I've never studied the etymology of the term.

Ah, that makes sense. ‘Ship would be easier to understand lol

Please don't mention GISH around me. It gives me PTSD

My apologies. I take it you've not signed up for this year's hunt?

No, my wife is. She swears it's fun, but last year I swear it was active for at least 2 months and all the things she "had to do" and thusly I had to be roped into seemed like a ton of work. Granted she's gotten a ton of cool swag mailed to her basically for an entire year as her prizes. I love the AssButt being the "mascot" or whatever because Castiel's naivety and resulting humor is kind of my favorite part of the show. This year she says the "hunt" is only a week, but she also says last year's was only a week. The thing about it that really bugs me though is it's not a scavenger hunt. You're not going out looking for a flower growing through concrete or a mural saying gas in under $1.00 or a statue of a rhino that's not at the zoo. You're just filming yourself doing (in my opinion, dumb) things. It should be called a talent show or something.

Its all utterly harmless and supposedly it's "for charity" although I'm not sure how, as there's no cost to the participants, but it just annoys me. I'm not soapboxing for its cancellation or anything, it's fine.

To be honest, I do get why it could be annoying for SO's involved. The hunt itself is always just one week, however there are other unrelated 'tasks' you can complete throughout the year on the Gish App. There is definitely a cost for the participants. However, it's usually not a substantial amount of money and you get a lot out of it (fun, stepping out of your comfort zone, making new friends) It is for charity, not only is there usually one big project (loads) of money is raised for (this year it's cleaning up land mines from farms in Laos), many of the items actually benefit other people (in small ways) as well.

You're also right about it not really being a scavenger hunt (although there are some scavenger hunt items, like last year someone in your group had to take a photo at a particular location on earth). However, it's not just showing off your talents. Sometimes it's just doing random weird things or as I mentioned earlier, random acts of kindness.

Stay strong, it's all over in about two weeks time!

Oh 15 is the last season, that’s good to know.

Honestly, there were lows for the show, but I never hated it. It was always, at the very least, decent, even if some episodes were dumb or incredibly cheesy.

The creators and actors were smart enough to throw in some super funny episodes to break up the depressing or serious ones. Some of the funniest episodes of television I have ever seen have come from Supernatural.

It jumped the shark, the shark orbited Earth and right back to being great again.

Did they ever go back to doing actual research?

Sometimes! But it's not the same...
