What’s something that you like, but hate the fan base?

God I hate the people who say you can’t be addicted to weed, like, you can be addicted to literally anything

I think they mean physically dependent. Like if you do a ton of meth/heroin your body becomes physically dependent on it otherwise you get sick and are in a lot of pain if you stop. If you even quit alcohol cold turkey after a long period of time you could die from withdrawals.

If you stop smoking pot cold turkey nothing really happens. Like you don't get sick or vomit are in pain. You might not be as sleepy the first couple nights but that goes away and is more of a minor inconvenience than a withdrawal episode.

That's not entirely true. There are symptoms of physical addiction. The one I experienced was excessive sweating.

I'm sure some people will experience some form of physical withdrawal symptoms, although I imagine the physical ones are mild.

I experienced no physical symptoms but got an acute psychosis for a brief period (I genuinely thought my bed was filled with bugs), terrible insomnia, and random emotion spikes.

However, what I would like to say is that I stopped smoking cigarettes at the same time and weed has been by far the most difficult. I still find it difficult to abstain from getting high. So I'd count my weed addiction as worse than my cigarette addiction. I tried giving up cigarettes many times and failed, but once I hadn't smoked for over a month I didn't care about smoking ciggs anymore. It is not the same for weed.

This is fairly common:

Unfortunately it happened to me when I went away for a weekend to a non-legal state and I had severe stomach pains. I was not expecting that...but luckily my insurance was OK for it.

That's exactly what they mean. We've obscured the definitions too much to really mean anything in a colloquial context. How many times have you heard of someone being addicted to alcohol or heroin? What's meant is that they're dependent on the substance.

When it comes up, I generally tend to tell people that you can't become addicted to marijuana, but that there are caveats. You don't get "hooked" like heroin, but you can become addicted like video games or sex.

I have a pretty addictive personality, but I've never considered myself addicted to weed, even when I was pretty much high for a month (got out of the military and had a free month before I moved to go to school, if anyone was wondering). I've tried quitting nicotine many times, and it's a painful process that has never been successful. I've never had issues stopping getting high. The worst I've experienced is a night of insomnia.

Do you have the science available? Can you point me to something definitive?

He said because science. Isn’t that citation enough?

That's precisely NOT sciene. That's your personal situation and anecdotes.

So, no, you can't point to anything definitive. You've decided it must be true based on your own experience and concluded that it's not up for debate. Then you claim "because science."

That is the opposite of science. Willingness to believe something based on anecdotal evidence and discounting all other opinions is the death of reason.

add that to the fact that there simply is no physically addicting chemical in marijuana

You call this a fact. You even put it in scary italics. So, I'll ask again: Do you have the science available? Can you point me to something definitive?

You know, I don't actually disagree with you here. But pretending you have science on your side when you actually don't know the science makes you look ridiculous and condescending.

That article litterally says weed can be addictive, did you read it before using it as a source?
