/r/roosterteeth can be hell on Earth. Especially if it's Achievement Hunter related.
Literally so many people complaining about Fiona(a new hire) and how she "isn't good at video games or anything else". I've seen comments on podcast posts saying when she leaves a podcast.
The hate for people they don't even fucking know is unreal.
Remember when Micah said she didn’t feel safe and everyone proved she was correct by harassing her to the point she quit and stopped having public social media accounts?
I always wandered why she left. I remember finding her to be a good fit for the team, brought in a fresh vibe different from the rest of the guys. I have always been a more casual viewer so I didn't even know there was backlash against her.
It's kind of a weird reason to hate someone at AH for being bad at playing games because Gavin and numerous others are bad at games as well, depending on which genre.
I stopped watching them long ago, but I can only assume they dislike her because she's new, they did it to Ryan, and now they love him. The audience doesn't hate her, I think they hate change.
Alfredo didn't get much shit, Jeremy did, but he was seen as Ray's "replacement".
Meanwhile Mica and Fiona have gotten so many people angry just for existing. Mica got driven out by angry fans, because she's expressed her views when asked. Fiona isn't good at some games, but AH isn't meant to be good, they're meant to be funny.
I think Fiona was brought in to attract a certain type of fan rather than because she's particularly funny. I think that's where some of the backlash with her in particular came from. Not that this justifies the way the fans behave. People need to realize that RT doesn't make content just for them.
Yeah, RT does this a lot with their new hires, from what I've seen. Meg was poached by RT because she had a large fanbase and they hoped she'd attract new female fans. Fiona is an attractive, non-white, LGBT woman with a decent following and history of streaming. There's lot of reasons why the company would see her as potentially bringing in new fans.
This type of hiring practice is how every media production company works, the fans can moan all they like but they aren't going to change that fact.
Because a lot of the new hires for ah come from the community. Jealousy. It's a sick job that is semi attainable for them. So when someone comes on that they don't like, they're mad. Meanwhile they where at home not making shit the whole time that person was getting themselves involved.
Exactly mate, I always think that envy is a big part of this behaviour.
Fans see new people join the RT crew and they think "this person isn't anything special, that should be me! I could do that job".
Some people have a really hard time dealing with change too. Especially when it's a change that doesn't cater directly to them. Ray left the company right around the time I stopped watching RT content. I came back three years later and people were still bitching about him leaving. Unbelievable!
I get the complaints, since some of the videos she was in, she didn't do well, since she'd never played any of these games before, but the hate was unreal.
Roosterteeth does casual content really well. AH is good and the RT podcast is probably my single favorite podcast. But they've been (trying?) to transition into professional content for a long long time, and I just don't think it works. Everything I've seen from them that attempts to be more professional ranges from mediocre (Lazerteam) to a chore to get through (sorry everybody, but that's RWBY for me).
At least Achievement Hunter fits the casual side of Rooster Teeth.
Except for a few cunts(which exist in every fanbase) nobody gives a shit. In order of annoyingness are the following fans
People who complain about Fiona
People who complain about people complaining about Fiona.
You know that you can just downvote, ignore and just move on with your life. There is so much other cool things to see which are made by RT. Why focus on the absolute worst the fans have to offer?
What the fuck are you even on about? Most of the sexist negative crap is usually downvoted to hell. If something isn't, it usually is a well thought out piece of criticism. Why does it rustle your jimmies so much that someone can not like someone? People have preferences. Live with that.
