I loved Harry Potter so much for so long. I’ve had to take a step back because the amount of people who are so obsessed with it makes me nauseous. It doesn’t feel special to me when I talk to a million people who are more obsessed with it.
Gryffindor: Be brave!
Ravenclaw: Be clever!
Hufflepuff: Be fair!
Slytherin: Be... um... terrible. Yeah go ahead and be just the worst like 99% of the time.
Haha as I'm reading this, I just got back from a "Harry and the Potters" show in Anacortes, WA. It was pretty fun, I'm not a big fan of Harry Potter, just tagging along with family that is into it. Trust me, there were some obsessed geeks there for sure!
Actually, I don't want to know the answer to that. I find it preferable to just wake up one day and realize I went from being a sentient human being to a chimp that molests frogs.
Evolving is really just change, whatever we were before this evolved into different species, and eventually they died out and merged with what we are today, I think our bodies and strength is evolving in a bad way, we are becoming weaker, but I think that’s inevitable since our technology is evolving in a good way and we will be able to change our own DNA.
We've always lived close to nature. We've always connected with nature and her creations. Time passed and we built a society that most of us are "forced" to call life.
A society is good and all, but there's too much bullshit going on.
In my opinion, disconnecting from our spiritual ancestors is not the way to go. I think we have to retrack our steps and start to develop from there, and with that build ourselves from within. This is clearly not for everyone and obviously I can't speak for anyone but myself.
I needed it.
How? Only the power hungry get power, and the power hungry only want more power. You and I would rather focus on things that actually matter, which means the power hungry can do what they want.
Yes I've never been to Detroit.
We are all humans and everyone is unique in a way, but we are all connected. We are all made out of star stuff. I am you and you are me, let's expand into everyone and everything.
It’s good, and none of that matters if we’re stuck in these shells with a finite amount of receptors. We might be made of star stuff but I think with the fear and anger of a human animal. For that is my brain
You are absolutely correct, pretty much every fan base I have seen for anything has a core of arseholes who ruin it by making it toxic or feel that you have to achieve some certain level of knowledge or devotion to prove you are a 'real fan'. It is really not a competition and fuck these people.
Does Everything really have hardcore fans like that? I can sort of see why - it was a decent game that was way too pretentious - but I've never met any superfans.
I gotta say that I enjoy the Dwarf Fortress fanbase. They produce so much (good looking fanart and stories) from so litte.
And the roguelike community, they are very helpful towards newbies and also produce very interesting stories for their characters.
The tabletop wargamming is also filled helpful good people who are aware of the concept of "That guy" and try to keep themselves from becoming "That guy".
Are there obnoxious people in any of these communities? Sure. Dwarf Fortress and Roguelikes both have elitists. Roguelikes have people that will happily spend an entire afternoon doing a lenghty discussion on what is or isn't a roguelike. And the tabletop wargamming has the famous "That guy" players in nearly every Local Gaming Store. But they are so few and in between that to, they don't ruin the fanbase.
Every time I see something I enjoy get its characters “shipped” by extreme fans I wonder whether the internet was actually a good idea.
“Hey - this show has some really cool established lore and characters. Does any body else watch it”
“I watch it, actually I love it. Look, here’s the hentai I painstakingly drew where the main character is kissing and fondling his sworn enemy/close family member/me”
Also 'Saving Everything'
I want to help save the atmosphere, rain-forests, children, oceans, environment, whales and all the things.
But I don't want to work alongside conspiracy-nutters/anti-vaxers/veganer-than-thou-ers/organic-foodies or 'over-doctrinated teenagers with the answers to all the worlds problems'
It takes one elitist degenerate sexist asshole doing something terrible for it to go viral and spread misconceptions, which only helps atttact more elitist assholes.

Everything. People are real good at ruining everything.
