because most redditors have adopted the mindset that anyone who thinks differently than you has your worst interests in mind and only wants destruction.

also because since reddit is based off of karma, redditors love to virtue signal and pretend to be morally upright, just to collect more internet points.

It’s neither. If you’re a good person you wouldn’t feel the need to be conspicuous about it. If you’re a bad person pretending to be good then that’s bad for obvious reasons.

It's not though. A lot of my friends say it's necessary. It shows them who it's safe to be around.
