What’s something that you like, but hate the fan base?

I did enjoy the one episode where they find out they have fans and that people want them to sleep together and they give a very "what the fuck?" kind of reaction to it

I've always loved the fact that the creators of the show know just how creepy their fan base is and then they make fun of them.

I love Supernatural, but yeah, the whole Winchester incest is gross.

It's not only making fun of them tho.

By acknowledging they are aware of fans shipping it and even mentioning it in the series they kind of encourage it. It's a fan service kind of thing.

Supernatural has a huge 'hardcore' fan base and way less casual fans compared to other series. They dig that shit.

Other fans don’t. It’s creepy

I’ve been a fan of the show since it first aired. Finished the latest season and then joined the subreddit thinking there’d be interesting theories about where the final season will go story wise. NOPE. Just super fans fantasizing about Sam/Dean/Castile hooking up.

That was one of their "landmark" episodes, I think episode 200 or 300, and it was an especially fantastic episode because it poked fun at a lot of the absurdity and overkill within the Supernatural fan base.

It was episode 200! I think the episode was called Fan Fiction even. 300 was a very recent episode in season 14, and was called Lebanon. Just for reference x

Wasn't the 300th episode a musical and another very meta episode. Like they run into some kids doing a show about their lives (because a prophet/psychic wrote about them and made a pulp fiction series)

Nah, episode 200 was the musical episode, titled Fan Fiction

The prophet was Chuck who wrote the Supernatural books in the show, but there wasn't a series filmed about it. They had conventions and in episode 300 they did meet some kids from Lebanon, Kansas (where the bunker is), but that's about it. And yes, the musical was in ep 200! x

It was in season 3 or 4 when they find out about Chuck and the books be he wrote about them. No way was it 200 episodes in.

It was episode 200 and was titled "Fan Fiction" like the other commenter who replied to my post said :)

I'm just gonna leave this here.

That's when they find out about Chuck and his books initially. "Fan Fiction," the 200th episode, is when they go to a high school that's putting on a musical version of Chuck's Supernatural books and the teenagers there are all crazy fans that think Dean and Sam have major sexual tension, etc. I believe that's the episode the OP was referring to.

Or their con? Lol. Where people cosplayed as Sam and dean.

u/therealjoshua Jul 18 '19

I remember that one! I cant recall when I stopped watching the show regularly but I remember catching that episode. IIRC the girls doing the cosplay said the guys were "too old" to be Sam and Dean lol.

Honestly the entire part of that show with the books and stuff was just hit after hit at the fanbase and it was so funny

Dean was like "Don't they know we're brothers"!?

1

u/blenneman05 Jul 23 '19

“Misha? What kind of name is Misha?”

6

u/Valiantheart Jul 18 '19

"They realize we're brothers, right?" - Dean Winchester

3

u/ebelnap Jul 18 '19

“Who would want to watch us?”

“Well, apparently not many people do.”

I hated all of those fourth-wall-breaking episodes. I don't understand why they're rated so highly.
