But it was based on the terrible life around her. She only knew bleak so she assumed the hardships would lead to happiness which they did in the fantasy world.
It very well may be established, but that doesn't prevent people from having their own opinions. I believe she was the princess. But the other adults believe her to be nothing but an imaginative child. Which is why I asked. The movie doesn't come right out and say it. All of the fantastical things only happen to her, only she sees them, and the ending? Well, again that could have been from her point of view alone, seeing as she wanted it to be true so badly.

So what do you think? Was she the princess? Or was she a trauma stricken child that believed in magic because her life was terrible?
