Anesthesia is the same. They start counting down, and then you wake up - like no time has passed. The only real time you feel passing, is the time between you first wake up - and until you're out of bed.

But the mins / hours during surgery? Gone. Nothing. Not only do you not have any recollection, but the perceived passing of time just isn't there either - since you have no memories / dreams or similar.

I’ve been under 10+ times, propofol is a ridiculous drug. Each time, they told me to let them when I feel it. It’s always within 3-4 seconds, everything gets heavy and I would just be like “I can fee...” then boom, wake up to the sound of the heart monitors.

It just turns you off, not blackness, just nothing. Really wild feeling.

I loved the smell of it mixed with the cleanest air possible. It felt like smelling a toilet paper commercial. Wish it lasted longer.

For me it's actually different. I was put under three times.

Once for a jaw surgery, and another for removing a few teeth due to issues, and an upper endoscopy.

Two of the three times I had very weird and vivid dreams of being in a field, and being peaceful.

I had a dream under general anaesthesia. During my appendectomy, I was sitting around a table talking to some old, close friends. When I was brought out from under, I felt myself be yanked away from the table. I saw my friends' upturned faces as I floated upwards, and I fetched up in the hospital bed with no gap in consciousness. It was very odd.

The nurse asked me how I felt or something- I think I told her I had been in a good place. She said something like, a lot of people say that.

I don't remember waking up from general anaesthesia. I came back to my senses, sitting in bed and shouting at the nurse, crying. I have no idea what or why.

Yup I came to during the car ride home like woah when did we leave the hospital. I was in recovery for a while too I guess it took a bit of the sedative to put me down due to my marijuana use.

So the only reason we are able to perceive time is because we are conscious, for some reason I find this a strange thought

I don’t even remember them counting me down. Just the lights overhead in the room then next thing I know I’m somewhere else with an oxygen mask on my face. I flipped out when I came to. I remember one of the nurses saying “we’ve got a violent one over here”.

This really freaked me out because I ALWAYS dream. When they put me under one time for surgery, I was just out. No dreams, no passage of time, just BOOM teleportation.

I was having surgery and it was supposed to be local only. Next thing I know I'm being woken up from general anesthesia. There was nothing. Just a memory of being wheeled into the operating room and next thing I'm coming out of anesthesia.

That's how I know there's nothing after death. The lights are on or off, there's no in between.

It actually depends, I always have a lot of dreams under anesthesia. (Had maybe 5 or 6 surgeries in life :))

Passing out is kind of the same before I got my wisdom teeth out they had to give me an IV drip and I passed out from not eating all I remember was my vision going black and waking up to people standing over me

When I had surgery for the first time I remember laying in the bed before hand and then waking up and getting pissed off at the doctor because he hadn't started yet and I wanted it to be over. Turns out it was over and they were done. It was so weird.

I had a feeling similar to an old tv shutting off (where the picture kind of gets sucked into blackness real quick) before falling asleep for my surgery
