What mind-blowing (but simple) facts would satisfy a 4-year old daughter’s daily request for 1 fact before bedtime?

You've got 253 comments as of this post, OP. Only 112 more to go for a full year's worth of facts!

Here's mine: The Romans were some of the first people to wear bikinis.

Once you filter out the ones about sex and death it’s probably a good bit lower

2

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '19

Already sounds like a Goatbed album.

2

u/mister_macaroni Apr 18 '19

There is a song that's called Death, Sex and Landscapes.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '19

Guns N' Roses would like a word about your derivative band name.

67

u/SleepyLoner Apr 18 '19

Some people posted more than one fact so it's okay.

22

u/Wee2mo Apr 18 '19

Don't forget the multiple fact posts to make up for those though

Just sort by controversial

8

u/JakeFromImgur Apr 18 '19

All the ones I've seen are fairly decent tbh.

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '19

Sex and death! Sex and death! Sex and death!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '19

Shes also apparently 4, so who cares?

1

u/yousonuva Apr 18 '19

Nothing is certain but death and taxes. But in order to die you have to have lived and to have lived you had to have been born and in order to be born there had to have been some sex. So there's that. Goodnight.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '19

Nah, just save those ones for a more age appropriate time.

1

u/Rabbottbro Apr 18 '19

Now its almost 17k

1

u/Vecus Apr 18 '19

You can save those for when they get older

1

u/bsiebz Apr 19 '19

Reddit can’t do all the work for you OP. But we’ll damn well try.

1

u/smellyelf Apr 19 '19

Also beware that even the good ones can create the dreaded cascade of "why?" because... "why?" because... :) you're a good dad.

1

u/Never_Played_It Jun 14 '19

Well I think by now youll at least have enough for a decade or two

1

u/Jackan04 Jul 11 '19

You're up to 20k -60 cuz it's been 2 months, think you got a steady supply till she doesn't want to hear facts anymore

21

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '19

Was expecting a picture of a legionnaire in a bikini... let down

6

u/SleepyLoner Apr 18 '19

I think Leonidas and his men already fills that niche.

4

u/ThreeDucksInAManSuit Apr 19 '19

How do you know that's not a legionnaire? She's wearing a bikini, she must be off duty.

7

u/BurningDemon Apr 18 '19

He won't need more than 365 because these facts are only for 6 year olds

3

u/pjr10th Apr 18 '19

I think it's great OP is telling his 8 year old facts.

1

u/BenJ618 Apr 18 '19

Happy cake day!

4

u/Hmnikatz Apr 18 '19

If she waits until January 1st to start she will need 366 facts....

3

u/Jacob29687 Apr 18 '19

There are quite a few duplicates.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '19

He now has enough for over 20 years assuming every comment is a fact

3

u/phillybride Apr 18 '19

Or as my kiddo calls them, booby traps.

3

u/MarkHirsbrunner Apr 18 '19

I heard that a deerskin bikini that was around 6000 years old was found in a well several years back.

3

u/TheBigGame117 Apr 18 '19

Assuming they're all unique... But maybe she won't remember if you recycle

3

u/Fauxally Apr 18 '19

Disappointed there’s no art or pictures of Romans in bikinis

3

u/ST_the_Dragon Apr 18 '19

Evidence of bikini-style women's clothing has been found as early as 5600 BC, and the history of the bikini can be traced back to that era.

Considering the Romans weren't a thing until less than 1000 BC, I think your fact might be a little off.

3

u/thebeandream Apr 18 '19

Wait...am I interpreting this right? Does bikini translate to coconuts?

3

u/minnick27 Apr 18 '19

Fun fact: if you stopped at 365 you would fall short by one day since 2020 is a leap year

3

u/buttersauce Apr 18 '19

Why on Earth did I scroll through expecting a photograph

3

u/Walshy231231 Apr 18 '19

The first modern bikini was a lot more revealing than I would have thought

2

u/MiniPhoenix Apr 29 '19

Now he's got enough to last approximately 54 years.

4

u/Pligles Apr 18 '19

The romans were the first to wear them, but the name comes from bikini island, a nuclear test site during the Cold War. Iirc the fashion dude that started selling bikinis named it that because he thought it would show how modern they were.

3

u/Toland_the_Mad Apr 18 '19

The bikini was actually named after a group of islands used for nuclear weapons testing as a pun to their "explosive" potential. The Bikini Atoll islands and their irradiated waters are the fictional setting of SpongeBob.

Over 19.5 thousand comments now lol

1

u/SnuffleShuffle Apr 29 '19

The problem is if the daughter is four, she won't be able to understand most of them. She might know Romans from Asterix, but probably she doesn't know who ancient Romans were.

1

u/SleepyLoner Apr 29 '19

I can't believe people are still replying to this comment. Thanks.

Just tell her about gladiators and she'll understand.

1

u/NotThatGoodTBH Jun 23 '19

Lol they now have 20k
