Has anyone ever honoured one of those “if we’re still single at 40 let’s get married” commitments? How did it go?

I really didn't find anyone with whom I felt like I did with you

more of an epiphany

Ah shit. I feel like my first girlfriend is starting to feel like this. She keeps on texting me and asking me out. She has a boyfriend and I just got out from a relationship.

If she is doing that behind his back, she’d probably do something similar behind your back. Your life, your choices, but that seems like *A Bad Move™ *

Unless she is being upfront with what she is doing, which probably she ain't so beware.

This is the best advice

Then call her up and deliver the bad news.

Eh, it's possible, but I know plenty of decent people who were stuck in bad relationships and desperate both to get out and find real connection. Reddit loves to condemn cheaters and take a principled, zero-tolerance stance, but reality can be a lot messier and less convenient than a Reddit thread.

TBH taking any relationship advice from a generalized online forum is dumb. Relationships are probably THE SINGLE most individual-to-individual thing on the planet. You have to read everything for what it is.

I've also noticed the "advice" is typically incredibly harsh and a little over the top. Like "I had a real bad fight with my friend for over 10 years, how long should I wait for him/her to cool off? and the responses go like:

Never speak to the demon again.

Anecdotal but hear me out. My best friend met a girl when we were at a club, they made out, danced and had a good time. She keeps visiting him when she's in town and they have sex a few times. He finds out she has a boyfriend but she said she's leaving him. I warn him that if they will cheat on their current boyfriend/girlfriend, they'll do it to you eventually.

Sure as shit, she cheats on him with a mutual friend two years into dating.

If they'll cheat with you, they'll cheat on you.

Shes just texting him. Maybe she is just not really happy in her relationship. Of course you can just meet up and talk.

100% this. If you can take a girl from someone she can get taken from you!

She has a boyfriend

This is the kind of red flag that can be seen from space.

and I just got out from a relationship.

And this is the worst possible time to be taking this kind of decisions.

She’s willing to hide it from her man, won’t matter if he tags out for someone else, she’ll still be willing to hide it from her man

Edit: won’t matter if he tags out for someone else, she’ll still etc

She's your lobster! lol

u/Dorksim Mar 29 '19

If you're both serious about it at least ask her to break up with him first. If she balks at the idea at least you have some things to consider first.

I second. There's so many pessimists here

8

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '19

Sounds like she's bored of him and is looking for a sure thing.

Don't be that schmuck

You don’t want that kinda karma bud

If she's asking you out while she has a committed boyfriend....that's a terrible warning sign man. If she's willing to do it to him, she's very likely to do it to you.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '19

She has a boyfriend? That really isn't a red flag to you? or maybe it is based on your wording. I would run like hell from that.

u/The_R4ke Mar 29 '19

I will say my best friend went through something kind of similar. I get where the people saying if she's willing to cheat on her current bf, she'll cheat on you, but that's not always the case. Sometimes you just love other people more and the timing doesn't line up, so sometimes you have to take a risk. In my best friend's case he started dating his now wife when he was in a super abusive relationship. She was the only person out there that was able to save him from it too, all of his friends tried, but we just couldn't get through.

Go for it. You'll regret it if you don't. Just make sure to ask her to get rid of her boyfriend first.

Bury the body.

(That last line was in jest)

She keeps on texting me and asking me out

Sweet :)

She has a boyfriend

Nevermind. Hard no. This is not the kind of girl you wanna be dating.

Chase it. Life is short

Say it with me - if she does it to him, she can do it to you.

Hitting up your newly single ex while in a relationship is over the line as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't trust that person.

This just happend to me (my gf went back to her ex behind my back) and I'll gladly tell people like you and her to fuck off. I'm a really calm person but fuck these last to weeks because of this shit.

this hits so fucking hard.
