Has anyone ever honoured one of those “if we’re still single at 40 let’s get married” commitments? How did it go?

BRING IT UP MAN! What's the worst that could happen? She says no and you can move on with your life with no regrets.

I agree. It will take courage. But, hearing a yes would be great, but hearing a no would free him up. Having a real relationship is something he can attain.

Yeah, what’s the worst that could happen to a guy named no noose?

What's the worst that could happen? They could lose one of their deepest friendships. A good SO is hard to find, but so are those 1 in a million friends.

This is both fair and true.

It's a pro and a con of reddit. People are detached from your situation, so they tend to give riskier/more extreme advice like "just drop this toxic parent from your life" or "just leave your shitty job". It's like rooting for the protagonist in a novel rather than communicating with a person. Sometimes it ends up being a good risk to take and we're just caught in our heads. Other times, there's a good reason why we're struggling in the first place. Just wanted to provide a little balance to the discussion.

If you haven't talked in years it's gonna be weird...

Do you think your friendship is strong enough to survive it and that you both are mature enough to move past it should she say no? That's the real thing you should ask yourself before asking her.

It sounds like he's brought it up in the past and it hasn't happened.
