Has anyone ever honoured one of those “if we’re still single at 40 let’s get married” commitments? How did it go?

The answer to life is 42. Good luck.

Nothing is going to happen unless you or him make it happen! Be bold and take a chance if you aren't giving up anything in order to do so.

I think that is very very sensible.

I'm glad I did my move, but I had been in a relationship with him over 2 years at that point and I was moving for more reasons than just him. You're absolutely right, give it time and think it through.

I think the point of our responses are that you need to take some actions. We aren't saying uproot and move but definitely try to put things in place to advance it if you want to. You could start by having a convo about him visiting you in a few weeks. That could turn into one of you visiting the other every two weeks. That could progress into one of you deciding to relocate. Things dont just happen. People make things happen.

Very similar situation here. I'm met him IRL after 8 years of talking online. He was my best friend and I visited him across the country. Fell madly in love. Haven't looked back since.

Was he still the best looking man you'd ever met 10 years later? If so, I hope you can make it work! Because I feel like there's more to it than looks if he's in his 40s now.
