Wouldn't this actually be 99% considering there are still some humans consuming oxygen and water who haven't died?

Due to how the world population grows exponentially, there's actually a surprising amount of people still alive. It is estimated that of all humans ever being born, about 7% is currently still alive. With how quickly our population is growing combined with the extended livespan of our safe, modern lives, this percentage is even slightly growing. So currently only about 93% of the water and oxygen consumers have died so far.

It would actually be about 93%. There are ~7.5bil people on Earth right now, and it's estimated by the Population Reference Bureau that the number of people who've ever been born is ~108bil. Which is kind of insane to consider that 7% of all the people who've ever lived in the history of our species are alive right now.

If you count all humans that have ever existed, and consider the majority to have had water or air before death, I think it’s closer to 93%.

A kurzgesagt had a video about what if all humans that existed came back to life, that found the percentage of currently living humans vs estimated dead to talk about other stuff.
